My trunk won't release on the driver's side. Was able to open it with an allen wrench used like a dentist pick and identified a failed orange plastic part connecting the release cable to the tensioner spring. The cable is fine except for the broken tiny piece. My dealer wants to replace the entire cable. I want to replace the tiny part...any ideas on what it is called or where I can purchase one is greatly appreciated.
Just a thought...Can you try putting two zip ties on it for now in the shape of a figure "8", one through the other, around the cable end and spot where the tiny piece goes?
Unfortunately these cables come as all one piece. You can`t just replace the plastic broken part you have to get the whole cable.I know it`s not cheap.I show about 230 bucks in my area. This is before labor. The labor rate in my area is between 80 and 100 bucks an hour.Hope this helps.Good luck.
