I own a 2005 ford escape hybrid. The abs light has been going off and on by itself for some time. At times when the abs light is not on the traction control will flash and sometimes grab. I was driving it today to go get my husband from work when the indicator read STOP SAFELY NOW. I did turn it around and parked it back in my driveway. Can anyone please give me some idea of what could b wrong.
not going to work on it myself just wanted some idea of the amount of money I will end up putting into it to get it fixed. I have read a lot that says it is most likely the regen systemnot going to work on it myself just wanted some idea of the amount of money I will end up putting into it to get it fixed. I thought hybrids had extended warranties on the regen system and batteries, double check with the dealer before you spend money about warrantyI thought hybrids had extended warranties on the regen system and batteries, double check with the dealer before you spend money about warranty

You need a mechanic with a high level scan tool to check the Diagnostic Trouble Codes and Live Data. It is probably ABS Sensor related, but should never leave you with no brakes..

On a 2005 T&C, I have two bulbs out in my dash. One behind the fuel gauge and another behind the tach. I can still ... 2008 Escape has a terrible reputation for ABS light and traction control light being. All due to broken ABS tone ring cracked and out of position flopping on frt bearing. Go to local AutoZone store and they
will scan this to find which wheel has the broken tone ring. The replacement ring is cheap in the $7 range. It is labor that will sicken you as this ring must be pressed on after the front half shaft is removed. Not a driveway job if you are considering DYI.
worn out pads or rotor, possible broken abs cable to brake. first check to see if all 4 are connected. all ore on back side of brake dust shield. than check to see if the brakes are worn last is the rotors. also see if there is a recall on the brake and battery re charge system.
you will need to scan for ABS code......possible a wheels speed sensor is bad....also this will effect the 4X4. and engine/trans....first start with diagnostics to correctly save time and money, this can be a complex system....hope this helps....GL
