Mercedes slk 230 1998 locks all doors with remote key then instantly unlocks please help

Perhaps the batteries in the key fob are flat or low?

There's a wiring short or earthing problem somewhere on the fuse 25 circuit.

You can spend a lot of time trying to track down a wiring fault. My honest advice would just be to take your car to an auto electrician and let him sort the problem out.

if a slim jim as not available, try getting the spare keys. or call mercedes before you brake something.

You need to reprogram the key, or keyless entry receiver

Your keyless remote is equipped with 2 different systems. There is the RF system (long range, lock control only) and the IR system (short range, locks and convenience features such as remote window roll-up and roll-down). It sounds like your RF system isn't working. The only way to test the system, that I know of, is with a Mercedes scanner. It is likely a bad remote.

Most likely needs to be re matched to the car.

1. Point the remote control at the receiver - this should be located in the driver's door handle or next to the boot lock button.
2. Press the lock/unlock button.
3. Within 30 seconds manually lock or unlock the vehicle using the passenger's door lock or the boot lock.

3b: while the Close button is still depressed simultaneously press the Open [Unlock] button. Press and release the Open button 5 times [still holding the Close button down]
3c: Release both the Close and the Open buttons at the same time, and immediately push any of the two Open buttons once [i.e. either the Open doors or the Open Tailgate]

This information is for the resetting of a previously synchronised key to match the security system after batteries have been removed or replaced. This information does not work with new keys which it seems must be taken to a person with a key synchronisation device [or a super-ripoff-expensive MB dealer]

I have a 1998 SLK230 and I can't adjust the vents for cool air. It only comes out hot. Could this also be related to an inability to lock or unlock either door form inside or remotely?

If it is a new key or replacement only the dealer can do it. if it is one of the original keys that stopped working then place it in the ignition and press the lock button 5 times in about 5 seconds, then press and hold down the unlock button. Withdraw the key and try it.

try holding the lock and unlock button down for a few seconds at the same time. That is how most work.

Remove emergency key blade from top of remote
Open door manually
It just clips out
It will show you in owners manual,but that is in the car it won,t help
Sound like flat battery, if so key won,t turn untill you charge it
