The timing marks depend on the engine. If its TDC or BDC on the Number 1 cylinder. If your simply replacing a timing belt make note of the cam gears before the belt comes off that way when you replace the belt the cam gears are stationary where you left them. There should be a dot on each Cam gear if your engine is DOHC.

SOURCE: 2.0 L Timing Belt Marks

hi if its a twin cam ford engine you wont find marks on the cam pulleys.what you have to do is take off the cam cover and look at the back of the cams you will see slots in them ,what you have to do is you can buy the timing kit for the engine at the main dealers or you can make you own using a flat piece of metal 5mm thick and100 mm long this fits into the two slots at the rear of the cams to lick them in place and th crankshaft pulley mark should be in line also.best of luck.

I need timing belt marks for new timing belt on a 1994 Toyota Camry LE 2.2L 4 cylinder

Firstly the no.1 piston should be at TDC (compression).

The upper camshaft sprocket has a smaller hole in the web. This should be lined up exactly with the TDC timing mark behind it on the cam bearing cap. In this position it will be vertically upwards.

At the same time the notch in the crankshaft pulley timing flange should be opposite the 0 degrees mark on the timing marks on the front of the lower belt cover.

Timing belt replacement. what are the mark settings on the pulleys?

If you dont know the marks on an engine when replacing the timing belt. There are usually marks on the pulleys and housings to line up. Put the engine on top dead centre TDC from the crankshaft marks before looking for the other marks. If you cant find them Use white out to place your own marks on the pulleys and housings before removing the old belt . To be sure nothing gets out of line mark any pulley that has teeth. It can be useful to take a few digital photos . When fitting the new belt make sure your marks line up again.

Can any body help put cambelt back together

You need to rotate the cam until timing marks on the sprocket are in line with the head, then make sure crank shaft timing mark is lined up. Install the belt. Might have to loosen the timing belt tensioner. Put timing belt tensioner back on, rotate the crank shaft with a wrench first to make sure there's no interference. Next, check compression.
