Above the brake pedal arm is a small switch with a rod sticking out toward the brake arm. This is the switch that controlls the brake light. You can loosen the nut and turn the unit to adjust it. It won't take much adjustment to change the action of the switch. It should be so when the brake pedal is depressed 1/2 inch the brake lights are activated.

Need diagram for f150 1976 wire attachment to break pedal, replaced slave cylinder abad now lights are on constant.

Mcmom, Either your brake pedal is not coming up far enough to the brake switch, or the brake switch is faulty. You may still have air in brake system not allowing pedal to come up high enough to contact switch, pull brake pedal all the way up and have a second person see if brake lights go off.
Links below to show brake switch location and show how brake pedal arm should come all the way up to turn off brake lights.

Dash light on key off f150 ford

most likely is ignition switch. it is adjustable. under the dash on the steering column there are two bolts that holt a square box onto the column. that is the ignition switch. may need to be slid down towrds the pedals. can be aggravating trying to fine adjust it. if that doesnt work, replace it. about 25$

1990 f150 truck cranks up but got to press gas pedal tokeep running replace spark plugs ,wires ,ditributor cap rotor button throttle position sensor fuelfilter idle air control

Well, check for a vacuum leak,by starting it cold, and have someone keep it running while you spray some brake cleaner aT VARIOUS SPOTS WHERE VACUUM LINES MEET,or toward back of intake manifold, but not near air cleaner.
Any change in rpm down or up indicates a leak. don-ohio

Hi, I have a 2004 Ford F150 ( new body style ) with a 5.4 L 3V. The problem I've been having and no body seems to know what it could be. The truck idles fine and is not erratic or anything but when I...

the valve on the intake manifold that controls the idle and will speed up when AC is turned on ,i think the problem is here ,its not working right allowing air to by the throttle buttlefly causing the mixture to be out .so when ECU senses that the misture is weak it will overcompensate

1990 f150 4x4 front axle removal

I'm not positive what type axle you have but the order of parts should be the anti lock free running hub assembly, a lock washer then the wheel bearing lock nut. The lock nut could look like a thick washer with 5 or 6 holes in it.
But depending on your front axle you may have a rotor and hub assembly that's a single unit or they could be separate. If they are separate then you may need a sledge hammer to get the rotors off. Ford's front rotors can be a real pain in the a$$ to get loose. Regardless which type you have if the order of what you have taken off so far matches what I said then washer is probably the locking nut. The only way to get it off is a special spanner wrench or a punch and hammer. If you are still uncertain about it let me know and give the axle make and type and I'll be glad to help.
Good luck

RPMs go down when I press my breaks

While I was working on my Ranger brakes, the engine would die if I pushed the brake too close to the floor. Once I replaced the leaking wheel cylinders and a bad front hose and the old worn out master cylinder.....and bled the lines real good, the problem went away. Getting the front bleeders loose was a real struggle. With much liquid wrench, vise grips, and careful hammering, they came loose. Cursing helps. The lines won't bleed right if you just loosen the mounting bolts. I put a little grease on the bleeder threads so maybe they won't be stuck next time.
