Hi
Two reasons for this ...
1. the fuel pump is over pumping
2. one of the jets in the Multi Point Fuel injection system is jammed and constantly pumping gas into the cylinder.
Get a good injection cleaner fuel addative... this will solve your problem... though it will take a few days of driving before the RPM settles down below 1K RPM.

    Hi
The mass air flow sensor COULD be in question .... BUT when the mass air flow sensor goes bad the car will give variable RPM reading and wont settle at a fixed rate...
The gentleman who has given a suggestion is a Specialist as you mentioned and I shall not get into any direct confrontation.
How ever it would be advisable if you get the jets cleaned before you start opening the sensors and the injection unit. These dont come cheap...
    Regards
    Berry

Where is the starter located on a 2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara?

one of the hardest starters to remove
only held on by two bolts but not enough room to remove it
without taking a lot of parts off

will be best to buy a 2006-2014 vitara repair manual

see if the exhaust manifold removal makes it possible
or the engine mount bracket

this is the 2008 starter

Engine management light on ,suzuki grand vitara 2 litre turbo diesel, engine feels slugish

Take the car to an autoparts store and have them scan the computer for any fault codes stored. The check engine light is to alert you that the computer has noted a fault in one of the car's systems. Getting the codes will show what the computer has noted and curb the need for speculation. Most parts stores will perform the scan for free. Hope this helped and best wishes.
