You need a special tool to remove the pulley. Many parts stores will loan these tools out, anyway it's pretty straightforward install the puller then turn the puller bolt until the pulley is off. I hope this helps, Take care. If you have any more questions or just want to say Hi! Use testimonial. Thanks
first you remove the pulley with a pulley removel tool you should be
able to rent one from parts store.then remove lines, then pump I am
replacing mine today..the pump itself will come with all the information
you need except the fact that you need a special puller to remove the
power steering pully. I tryed the conventional three prong puller and
found the 4" is to big to get in there to grab thre front of the pully
due to the low placement and the body and air conditioner lines in the
way..I am on my way back to the auto parts store to see if I can
purchase the right puller..back later with price and availability and
how it worked out...good luck terry hope help!
can rent or buy a power steering pully puller from the parts store it has instructions on how to use and then remove it is also used to install the pully
Be careful not the bend the pulley as they are $100-200 for a replacement! Soak the center shaft with a quality penetrating oil like Kroil or PB Blaster for a day or two before.
When you go and buy the new pump it will come with instructions. the hardest part of the job is the pulley. "don't use a hammer on it or pry on it" It can only be removed with a special P/S puller tool. If you have a Autozone near by you can rent it for nothing. Follow the instructions, press it off, remove the pump, install the new pump, press the pully back on(the face of the pully should be flush with the shaft), fill, purge, and check for leaks.
