Hesitating on acceleration, also backfiring when taking your foot off the accelerator,approaching a junction.sometimes it will just cut out. if i turn the ignition off and restart it will be ok for about a mile.it might sound strange but it is worse the lighter i press the throttle.

The first thing you need done is to have the electronic engine control computer checked for fault codes.

check compression is it more then 10% difference between cylinders you have a leak also check for fouled plugs. wires fuel pressure, catalytic converter. i have the same problem in my lincoln its a leaking valve seat

wha is the make and model and year? please. how many miles on it?

It can be fuel pressure issue or it's the problem with accelerator pedal or its clogged filters causing there.

There are times, such as approaching a roundabout, turning into a junction or coming down a hill when I have slowed down and then want to accelerate away again. When I put my foot on the accelerator, the car acts as though it has gone into neutral or that the clutch is slipping. I have tried watching the display to see what gear it is in when it does this, but can't see a pattern.

I have tried driving in ES mode but it made it worse.

Also, when in automatic mode, I sometimes get a bleeping noise at low speed but the manual says this happens in manual mode!

Has anyone else had these problems and found a way round them or do you think I should take the car back? I have done 2500 miles.

Have your mechanic check the brake booster. I have had this problem one time before. the booster wasn't working correctly, small hole in the diaphram. it acted as if there was a large vacuum leak letting the engine rev up, but only when the brakes were applied.

your fuel injectors are clogged

plug wires for sure are bad with it backfiring

It's due to your etm is starting to fail that's the first warning sign it will get worse

sounds like a choke sticking or carburetor needing attention..(adjusting or rebuilding) hard to say more without hearing it my own self.....hit me up if i can help more [email protected]
