2002 Ford F150 Regular Cab Logo

My 2002 f150 4.2l is sputtering at higher rpms, and mostly in fourth and fifth gear. its most noticable when going between fifty five and sixty five. truck has 118k miles, new ignition coil, new plugs, plug wires are a year old, new fuel filter, just changed oil and filter, and just cleaned maf sensor. i first noticed this during about four days of below freezing weather if that helps.

while im thankful of your effort, as i already said, changed fuel filter already, one thing i did not mention in my original post was that ive been dumping chemtool to it off and on since this all started as well.

thats what i didnt understand, the check engine light isnt on, it came on once when i pulled my maf sensor out, but only because i didnt put that rubber boot, where the wires for the maf go into the airintake, back in all the way and it was throwing a air temp code, when it threw that code it also said p0305 cyl 5 misfire, i cleared the codes, and pushed the rubber boot back in and drove around all week, still no check engine light.

now as far as the injector cleaner that hooks up to the service port, the port your refereing to is that the schrader valve on the driver fuel rail? or better yet, is there some diagram or walkthrough for that procedure, im not mechanically illitereate just not very familiar with engines.

Have changed the fuel filter lately? You may moisture in the fuel, I suggest you change the fuel filter and add some fuel addatives to the gas tank. This will help to help get rid of the moisture and clean the injectors. The fuel filter requires special tools to remove the old one. If you are going to attempt this yourself make sure you let the truck sit with the ignition off for at least a half hour. That should be enough time to allow the fuel pressure to bleed down, or you can relieve the pressure at the fuel pressure test port. Keep that hot trouble light a good distance away too, you don't want cold gas hitting that hot bulb.

I apologize for suggesting the fuel filter again, I had read through your problem and must have not noticed the fact that you had already changed the fuel filter. There is a product out there for cleaning the injectors, available at most auto parts stores. It attaches to the fuel pressure test port. Then you remove the fuse for the fuel pump and start the engine and allow the engine to run on the injector cleaner that's in the can. With all new ignition components it almost has to be fuel. No "Check Engine" light?

Yes, hook the injector cleaner to the schrader valve, there should be instuctions on the can. That truck has a coil pack and wires, correct? If you are getting a misfire on No. 5 try switching that plug and wire to another cylinder to see if you can get the misfire to move. You may have a bad plug or wire. Even though they're new.

Manual transmission 03 eclipse gts do I have overdrive?

If you have the five speed manual, almost certainly the fifth gear is an overdrive gear. Overdrive means that the gear ratio is less than 1:1, and in most 5 speeds, the fourth gear is 1:1, the fifth gear being less, such as 0.85:1 for instance. So yes, you probably have overdrive, it's just not called that in a standard transmission.

Coaster idling high and high fuel consumption

Water temperature is low cost oil is certainly the easiest way is with a hard shell to block part of the warming effect of the radiator well as for how much you want to try to stop. Idle temperatures will rise up relatively low. What is the pull speed? Not run fast but continues to run uninterrupted some time. Usually two hours can be. Is to allow the engine to reach full swell purpose. Such a shift is to be based on the vehicle speed and the reference engine speed. Not based on the engine speed. Driving is probably the single 30 towards third gear, fourth gear towards forty, fifty five-speed ahead. Many people on the car ahead of change. As long as the engine sounds smooth, no trailer can be.

2006 Dodge 2500 Diesel. The RPM gauge will show 3000rpms at 30MPH, basically the gauge is reading erratically.

Are you sure you are not in too low of a gear? Please tell me this is not so. If you are in fourth or fifth gear at low cruising speeds and RPMs do not match the audible sound of your motor, then you could possibly have a bad engine speed/reference sender (Crank and/or Cam), or faulty instrument cluster or ECM/BCM.

Fifth gear lock-out

You should have fifth gear. There is no fifth gear lock out. Most likely it's not going into fifth gear, due to play in the shifter, or play in the linkages.
