Is 14.8 volts normal for a dodge ram 2006 5.9

Is 14.8 volts normal (at idle) for a dodge ram 2006 5.9 diesel ?

Batteries were run down origianlly , but both are charged up right now. I put on new belt, noticed dash volt meter drops back slightly on occasion. It stays at 14.8v and that seems to be a little high for it to me.

    I did some research: 2006 2500, 5.9 and 2007 3500 6.7 eng.

Not really the case on newer trucks, especially Dodge from 2006 up. The voltage is supposed to be between 14.2 to 14.9 v.

    This is normal.

Amperage at Idle is approx 8 to 10 with nothing on.

I found more information and 14.2 to 14.9 is normal
    on the 2006 dodge 2500 5.9 and on the 2007 dodge 6.7.
At idle current draw is not above 10 amps on a warm engine that is.
I have done exstensive testing and some research on the OEM system.

2006 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 4x4. What fuse runs the 4x4 please?

It isn't specified. There is more than one fuse that covers transmission. You would need an auto electrician or a transmission expert to connect a pro grade scan tool computer and diagnose if the switch or solenoid is faulty. A scan tool at this level is bi-directional and can command solenoids to operate and confirm that they do.

What should the charging volts be on my 2007 Dodge Sprinter V6 Diesel when the engine is running?

Do you have any indication that the battery is not being charged properly, such as slow cranking speed when trying to start?
With the engine not running, the battery (fully charged) should show about 12.5 volts with a voltmeter. With the engine running at normal (not idle) speed, the voltage should be 13.5 - 14.5 volts depending on the state of charge of the battery. At idle, the voltage may drop below 13.5 volts depending on how many accessories you have turned on (headlights, a/c, blower motor, radio, etc). If the 12.8 - 12.9 volts you referenced is at idle with accessories on, but increases when you increase engine speed, you're probably OK.

How many quarts of oil used in a 5.9 diesel

Depending on which oil pan you have, it could be 12, 14, 15, or 18 qts. I would put 12 in it, run it for a minute, shut it down, then check it. There are various oil pans for different applications.
