This possibly will be the MAF sensor or even the throttle itself, auto choke are a bit of a pain on fords and tend to stick the best way would be to take it to a place where they have equipment to test these things on i am surprised the mot center didn't tell you what the problem could be what is causing it to do it so you can get it sorted..but anyway sounds like the MAF might be playing up...hope this helps
