Problems finding the correct firing order in '95 F-150 V-8

I've got a 1995 F-150 with the 302 V-8. The engine is running more rough now than it was before I added new plugs, wires, rotor and distributor cap. Thing is, I changed the plug wires to what my Chilton Manual said to do and now the engine is shaking, sounds louder. Smooth acceleration as I rev up the engine in neutral, rought idle - constant RPM - just the engine is vibrating more and it sounds a little funny. Anyone know of a different firing order than what is printed in Chilton's manual?

1994 Mercury Topaz 4 cylinder. Why is it running roughly?

The main thing is to read that check engine light code. That will give you the answer, but maybe incorrect firing order is causing it?

So check on the firing order FIRST. When changing the distributor cap, you should do one wire at a time off the old one. Same for replacing spark plugs, do one at a time. Having one lead in the wrong place is a sure fire way to get real real rough running.

I have a jeep Wrangler 1989 2.5 (4C) and replaced the wires and plugs sue to the vehicle running rough at mid range.. this was to no avail I would like to check the firing order. Thank You

FIRING ORDERS NOTE: To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement. If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes in your book to reflect how your engine is wired. Replaced sparkplugs and sparkplug wires, now runs rough. I checked connections all tight. check firing orger, looks right. run good till I touched it. Help.

Check the firing order with the firing order diagram that I have uploaded, and if that does not solve the problem then remove the spark plugs and be certain that there is an even spark plug gap between all of the spark plugs, (see the emission label under the hood for the correct spark plug gap) and be certain that there is not any split-fire or multi-fire spark plugs installed in the engine, because those plugs will not work with an OBD-II system, and a random mis-fire is the least that they will cause if installed in an OBD-II controlled vehicle.

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 4 wd - changed wires, distributor cap and rotor - now it will not start? Did verify the firing and that all were plugged in correctly.

If the wires are in the correct order, also make sure that you used the correct starting point, otherwise the base timing can be off by as much as 60 degrees. Turn the engine till the crank damper timing mark is pointing to 0 or tdc on the timing scale. If the rotor is pointing towards the engine, turn one more time. #1 is roughly when the rotor is pointing towards the passenger headlamp. Order is in the direction the rotor turns when cranking. If the engine was running with no problems before the change, only other thing could be that you inadvertently unplugged something or the security system armed. Other possibility is that if you did the change due to a running problem, whatever was causing that finally failed.
If when you remove the cap again you find that the rotor is damaged, check the dist shaft for side play.
Are you getting spark?
