There is a reset button- or do something in your car to trigger the reset. for example on most gm models to reset the oil light you turn the ignition on, but not the engine then hit the gas pedal 6 times (6 times under 10 seconds) and it resets it. You can try this but not sure it will work on fords, if it does not just call and ask your local dealership. god bless.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the info Joe, but that didn't work. But did fix it. Press reset with car started, go through systems check to oil reset, hold reset "

Why the change engine oil light keep coming on when i start my 2005 buick rendezvous? how can i turn it off?

Did you have the oil changed lately ?
Oil Life Left
Oil life left percentage is based on the information the DIC receives from a class 2 message from the PCM. The DIC displays the current percentage of the GM Oil Life System. When the oil needs changing the change engine oil indicator in the message center turns ON. When the engine oil is changed, reset the oil life left. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting in Maintenance and Lubrication.

GM Oil Life System Resetting
When the system has calculated that oil life has been diminished, it will indicate that an oil change is necessary. A CHANGE ENGINE OIL message will come on. Change the engine oil as soon as possible within the next 600 miles (1 000 km). It is possible that, if driving under the best conditions, the oil life system may not indicate that an oil change is necessary for over a year. However, the engine oil and filter must be changed at least once a year and at this time the system must be reset.
If the system is ever reset accidentally, change the engine oil at 3,000 miles (5 000 km) since last oil change.
How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System
If the vehicle does not have optional Driver Information Center (DIC) , do the following:
Turn the ignition to ON, with the engine off.
Fully press and release the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds.
Turn the key to OFF. If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on when you start the vehicle, the Engine Oil Life System has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
If the vehicle has the optional DIC, do the following:
Turn the ignition to ON, with the engine off.
Press the MODE button until the DIC reads OIL LIFE LEFT/HOLD SET TO RESET.
Press and hold the SET button until 100 percent is displayed. You will hear three chimes and the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message will go off.
Turn the key to OFF.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on when you start the vehicle the Engine Oil Life System has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

I can;t reset the change oil light on my dash of my 2007 lincoln town car I had the oil changed last week ?

This procedure work for one 2004... press mode button until oil life or change oil or change oil now is displayed press and hold mode button for 5 seconds until reset for new oil is displayed then hold reset for 2 seconds.

Additionally, I quite other comments about this subject....

Few issues have troubled technicians more than the infamous "Change oil soon light." We have even had quick lube shops send customers to me at the dealership to shut off this light.
Yes, the engineer that designed this system most certainly had flunked out of the "User Friendly" semester of college. The most common problem is between step 1 and 2 of the owner's manual. The natural tendency is that when we scroll through the menu to the "oil life XX%" mode, we lift our finger. This is where most go wrong. Once the "oil life XX%" comes up on the menu, do NOT lift from depressing the button- just hold for 5 seconds until the "Reset for new oil life" comes up. Again, do not lift your finger.

The parking assist is a different concern altogether. The parking assist light illuminated when it is deactivated- opposite of what seems logical. It was probably the same design engineer as the oil change system. If the system is disabled, (illuminated) it is intended to cycle back when the key is shut off.

Hope helps.

NEED TO RESET OIL CHANGE LIGHT

How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System
The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change the engine oil and filter based on vehicle use. Whenever the oil is changed, reset the system so it can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a situation occurs where the oil is changed prior to a CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message being turned on, reset the system.
Always reset the engine oil life to 100% after every oil change. It will not reset itself. To reset the Engine Oil Life System:
Display the OIL LIFE REMAINING on the DIC.
Press and hold the SET/RESET button on the DIC for more than five seconds. The oil life will change to 100%.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message comes back on when the vehicle is started, the Engine Oil Life System has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. burdfrenzy

1. Turn ignition key to RUN with engine off.
2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.

If the OIL LIFE RESET message flashes for 10 seconds, the system is resetting.

3. Turn the key to LOCK.
