I am not sure if this is a transmission problem,

When I drive my 1999 Toyota Camry [4 cylinder], it sounds as if the transmission is not shifting. I think it actually is shifting because the RPMs increase, then drop as normal, and I can feel the shift, but it sounds like it is revved up during normal driving.

Check the fluid level. Sounds as though it is slipping. Check for tran leaks

My '97 4 cylinder Toyota Camary automatic

Get a readout from the car's computer to see if there is a trouble code stored, which will give a good clue to the problem.

Camrys of this age often have a shift solenoid fail in the transmission, which will cause the symptoms you describe,

Sounds like a linkage issue, if not the tranny itself.

I want to know how much transmission fluid is needed to drain and refill in 1999 toyota camry

If it's a 4 cylinder engine it takes 2 and 3/4 quarts, if it's a V-6 it takes 3 and 1/2 quarts.

Can't find the backup light switch on 4 cylinder 1999 Toyota Camry with automatic transmission. Can anybody tell me where it is?

its part of the neutral safety switch on the transmission it goes over the trans input shift shaft on the front of trans facing the radiator. new one must be adjusted by the neutral if you change, theres a line and a N on new switch put trans in N and align lines then tighten 2 bolts to lock down. good luck

it sounds like you ground the spacers between the gears. have a look under the gear shift. pull the gear shift off then look at the transmission spacers. you will see where the gear shift sits see if some spacers look like the rest.

Toyota Camry Automatic Transmission Jerking Shift

Not likely to be the clutch pack as you dont mention slipping wich is the normal sign of overheated or worn clutch bands. Not sure with your vehicle but 2 methods that control the shift severity are engine vacuum or pump pressure inside the auto. so check balls are a possibility. They are spring loaded to open at a set pressure,or close.Could you check to see if its a vacuum controled and if so its a lot easier to fix as the vacuum control should be outside the trans.
