Replace fuel pump, may be in the gas tank. Some cars have gas shut off in case of accident, this may have tripped, not sure where it is located on your car.

My car seems to be starving for gas

Yes you may replace your fuel filter and check for the adjustment of the carburetor float level. Try also cleaning the whole carb specially the metering orifice and other small passages.

A very common problem for these vehicles is a defective ignition switch. The switch has been redesigned and seems to be a permanent fix, if attempting to replace it yourself I recommend purchasing a repair manual for your vehicle.

2004 Chevy Classic won't start after new Alternator install

Check your installation connections, also check the model of your alternator. GM is notorious for having several alternators that fit, but due to the diodes and circuits in them they may not electrically match. Look for a fuse-able link that may have burned out .

1998 malibu loses power while idleing

your alternator is likely on its way out. you should take your car to a trusted mechanics shop and have the charging system tested. Its only a matter of time until the alternator stops charging and you'll be stranded on the side of the road
Hope this helps..........Good Luck!
