Locate transmission filter on 2002 ford escape

The '02 Ford Escape doesn't have a transmission (automatic or manual transaxle) fluid filter or even a fluid pan to house one. The transmission is mounted between the drive axle and intermediate axle, directly below the yellow transmission fluid dipstick. No need to mess with it. Change your trans. fluid at the regular specified mileage. If the fluid on the dipstick is clear, it's good. If reddish or rusty or dark, change asap.

I have reverse but no drive has a whinnig sound when cold 2001 ford escape v6 4wd

have you checked your transmission fluid on the dipstick under the hood? if so,then it should be full. look at the dipstick carefully to see the full level make sure if have to add fluid to the transmission that it is fomoco transmission fluid.if you have any doubt about the product, get a sales tech to show you which fluid you need for a ford transmission.there is a difference in the fluid.the whining sound you hear is from the transmission, you may have a leak.check where the vehicles parked for fluid on the ground,it will be red in color.if you do not see red fluid on the ground and the transmission is full of fluid, please repost your question with all the above information, such as full of fluid and reverse only. you may have a leak, which if fluids on the ground will tell you that much.but if it's full of fluid, then that's a different issue altogether.hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com.

My 2002 Escape is stuck in reverse

I am uncertain what escape you drive but if this is the 4 cylinder version, then you will require a new transmission or have your transmission serviced. You asked why? Because Ford did not put a transmission cooler on the 4 cylinder, but only on the 6 cylinder version with the tow package, which prevents your transmission from overheating. Furthermore, you have to change your transmission fluid at greater intervals to prevent harm to your transmission.

Moreover, is this a manual transmission or automatic
?. If this is a automatic, you maybe able to manipulate the shift linkage cable on the transmission and get it out of reverse.

2001 ford escape.. oil light comes on when at a stop and in drive. when i give it the gas the light turns off. i checked my oil, brake, coolant and tranny fliuds and are all fine????? no funny sounds????

this light is indicating your engine has low oil pressure sensed at idle, have the oil pressure checked with a special mechanical oil gauge, if the oil pressure checks ok then just replace the oil pressure sending unit, do this ASAP, if u do really have low pressure u can damage the engine bearings, a very expensive fix.

Ford escape 2001. When I accelerate to overtake another car only the rpm shoot up but the speed does not increase.

your transmission needs immediate service. common with the escape. Turbine sensor or low transmission fluid in most cases. otherwise upwards to torque converter failure.
AAMCO transmissions should be your best start
