I have a 1997 GMC Jimmy, 4.3 v6, i have replaced the timing chain 3 times already. This time a mechanic has put it back in time, and put it back together. But it wont start, it will turn over but will not start. Has gas, and nothing wrong with the radiator.
Do you have spark? Remove one of the spark plugs and have a helper turn the key while you look for spark. Do you have compression? Buy a compression tester and test the cylinders for compression. If you have fuel, spark, and compression the motor will fire.
If it has fuel & spark, you need ot test the compression & just double check the timing gear marks to make sure it's in time if the compression is not up to specs.
You possibly have a bent gear that is causing too much lateral pressure on the chain. A visual test to see where any deviation would be, possibly even a slightly bent crankshaft or camshaft would also cause similar problems.
Basic timing is Crankshaft at TDC, Camshaft with both valves closed on Cylinder #1 lined up at the timing mark, distributor rotor pointing at #1 Cylinder wire.
good luck
Fuel pressure regulator it is located on the spider pump behind the throttle body
