carburator flooding maybe not electronic but something about fuel return. No fuel injectors just a one barrel carb on a 1985 f150 straight 6. If not enough info I will call the shop back Monday. Thanks

Yes. but it will make several things not work the same. The catalytic converter is designed for the EFI & could be damaged by the conversion, not to mention the chance that you couldn't pass a smog test if necessary. The fuel pump would have to be changed, or modified to reduce the pressure or it would damage the float needle on any carburetor. The ignition timing would have to be refigured to compensate for the difference & the valve timing may even need to be moved a tooth or so.

A trip to the salvage yard or some on-line shopping might be more beneficial. There are also aftermarket EFI system add-ons in the performance catalogs that will adapt. There are some Ford Truck parts places on line that may be able to help also.

Dealers seem to do what is the easiest for them, helpful when it suits them so the part could be at another dealership so you may want to just check a few. I had the same problem with OEM parts & ended up buying from a dealer 30 states away online & got everything my local dealer said was not available..
good luck

If it is the carbureted model, then check out the edlebrock & holly II carbs, autozone used to carry both as well as a few single barrel Ford carbs.

The adjuster is usually located beneath an aluminum inverted cap,. A small "freeze plug" design located at or near the base of the carb area & is used to adjust the fuel mix at low speeds.

It's better to look at a manual or a schematic of the carb if you don't easily recognize that is is just a protective cap. Its extremely thin aluminum.

You have to pierce it with a sharp screw & pull it out unless you've got a screwdriver that nearly fits it & you pry it out. You don't have to replace it, it's just there to keep you out. Again, good luck.

I have a 92 ford econo van 1/2 with a straight 6 in it. the engine idles fine but if I put it in gear to take off it bogs down or dies. what am I missing? help anyone?

check fuel pressure if low probably [one of the most common problems] need fuel filter -others need tune up -egr valve carboning up [clogging]-- carb needs adjustment/cleaning-air filter clogging -feel and listen to exhaust if sounds like starving or little air coming thru possible cat clogging

I am told the fuel pump needs replaced on my 1998 F150. I am also told the cost will be $750.00. is this reasonable?

That sounds like about the going rate. The fuel tank has to be drained and removed from the vehicle to replace the fuel pump module which, according to Autozone.com costs right around $200. (the shop will have to mark this up about 40% to 50% to make a profit...after all. that is what they are in business for.) So you can figure 2-1/2 to 3 hours of labor + Parts + parts mark-up. Where I work, this will come out to about $760.00

R&r emergency brake cables

I own this Year model myself. You will need a Vin# to get correct parts. Some of the tension adjustments are on the cable junction and have an adjustable nut, others have a reel under the dash on the Ebrake pedal.

The left and right side are sold separate. Both are not always bad. There are different lengths for wheelbase and body style. I order straight from the factory bypassing Dealers. Even I was told to go to a Dealer and match the parts and get the Part # before ordering.

So it looks like they took something simple and made it difficult again. There are Universal cable kits, but can't vouch for quality.

I have a 1990 f150 4x4 with dual tanks. when did ford stop having the high pressure rail fuel pump. I was told 1992 but the parts store told me they show only intank furl pumps for my truck. What is...

I have the same truck as you. Mine has the pumps inside the tank also. If both tanks stopped working at the same time, you might want to check your tank selector switch. I've had 2 of them go bad in the 6 years yhat i've had this truck.

1997 ford f150 4.2 how hard is it to change the fuel pump

the hardest part is separating the fuel lines from the pump assembly,to pull the tank out of the way.otherwise in my 2000 f150 it took 45 minutes start to finish on the ground with no jack.Be careful with the fuel lines and be very careful with the fuel level sensor towards the back of the tank, that sensor is very expensive.you need a separation tool for the fuel lines and a cheap one at the auto parts store is about $10.00.and the two strap bolts are kind of tough because the drive shaft is in the way for a straight on grab with a ratchet and long extension.use a 6 point shallow well socket,i believe a 13 mm
