Help! 2000 Dodge Dakota 2wd / 4.7 V-8
My "ABS" and "BRAKE" indicator lights came on and are staying on all the time. I have checked for any stored codes, but there are none. Any suggestions?
This is going to sound way to simple...... Go add the recommended DOT type Brake Fluid to the Brake Reservoir on mounted on the Master Cylinder under the hood of your car and see if the lights go out. If that does not change what lights you see respond here and we can go from there.
Thanks for using FixYa!

Check around your wheels for a BENT sensor ring. Usually that is all that it is. Given you said it happened after a snow storm I suspect the snow bent the sensor ring itself. You will probably have to jacke each wheel and remove the tire then rotate EACH of the the drums / rotors to see which one has the bent ring.
Sorry about the Snow comment was working 3 ABS issues in 3 different tabs all at the same time and flat out gooned 2 of 3 responses due to wrong tabs!
There are 2 sensors for the rear.
One is on the transmission and the other is on the top fo the differntial. Sometimes this happens after a serious car wash but most of the time one of the 2 is bad.
Symptoms of this REAR sensor going bad are brake light, ABS light, and speedo on the fritz.
If your spedometer does NOT work under 20 MPH it is the rear sensor that is bad.
There is a lot of ABS information available in the Message board forum of this link:
