My 2003 Silverado 1500 hd 6.0 Liter V8 105 k miles takes multiple key turns to start.
Then runs perfectly, shut the engine off.
With a warm engine still needs multiple key turns to start.
DTC codes P0101, P0201, P0120, P0220, P1516, P1518, P1626.
In middle of running perfectly engine would engage ''Reduced Engine Power'' mode.
I have cleaned my Mass Air Flow Senson and sensor connector harness and leads.
Removed/Cleaned the Throttle body and body connector harness and leads.
Cleaned the Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor harness and leads.
After cleaning I reset DTC's log.
No DTC's have come up since me cleaning the above items, and ''Reduce Engine Power'' mode has not reoccurred since cleaning and DTC reset either.
But still has the multiple key turn starting issue.
What can I do to fix this?
Respectfully , Chase
I am having the same issues on my Chevy 03 HD 1500. It takes at least two turns of the ignition to get it going. I have replaced the battery, Fuel Filter, Fuel Engine Relay and I am now Replacing the Starter Engine Relay. If you have any other suggestions let me know! I will share as well. Also, last couple of days Oil Pressure Gauge is acting strange. It will read from 1/4 point to 3/4 point while driving. Working on that as well.
Hi... is the engine actualy turning over when you say key turn? if not it may be the starter sollenoid or the starter motor itself..
if not check the fuel pressure.. sometimes if the pump isnt working well it will take a couple of turns to prime itself and if the fuel leak back line or sollenoid is faulty then it will have trouble getting pressure so make sure there are no disconected vacume lines on the return fuel sollenoid etc...
if it runns fine once started then it prob wont have anything to do with spark so i think checking the fuel lines is your best bet at this stage
I don't have a good solution. However had similar problems more than a year ago I finally took it to the dealer. They replaced the mass air flow sensor again (as I did) and the Throttle Body. Charged me a bunch of $. No DTC codes, reduce engine power or engine light since however the engine does not have the power it used too and it now it only gets about 11.3 instead of 13. There is only one Chevy dealer within 100 miles of where I live and I am tired of arguing with them. So if any of you have any solutions I am also interested.
P0201 info here
P0120 is a throttle position sensor malfunction, its on the side of the throttle body, here is a PDF file with more info
P0220 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch B Circuit Malfunction
P1516 Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Module Throttle Actuator Position
Performance
P1518 Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Module Serial Data Circuit
P1626 Theft Deterrent Fuel Enable Signal Lost
the multiple turns to get it started would point at the last one, if you are using a copied key instead of the factory key that would explain it, but if you are using a factory key then you may want to take it into the shop and get it looked at :( sorry I couldn't be of more help.
I would check crankshaft position sensor
