They say 100,000 miles now, i still think that 50,000 how it was 10-15 years ago is still right, milage based, I think waiting 100,000 is to long not worth losing motor over belt

At what milage does the cam belt need changing

The ideal time is 75,000 miles. I see owner delay the change up to 120,000 miles. (not recommended)
Timing belt, water pump and tensioner should be change at the same time.

Does the 2000 silverado v8 have a timing chain and if so at what milage should it be replaced

yes the silverado's have timing chains, just about all v6's and v8's have timing chains, and timing chains should not be serviced, unless you are having problems with a timing chain guide or timing chain tensioner

Does a timing belt have to be changed at 5 years or is it based on milage. I have a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe that only has 25,000 miles. Does the timing belt have to be changed because it is 5 years old?

Usually a timing belt replacement is based on mileage not age. However, I would have the belt visually inspected to make sure it still is in good condition. If the belt breaks it can cause serious engine damage. The inspection should cost you very little as most newer cars has inspection plattes that come off with a few bolts, you could even do it yourself. I would think that you are fine, but better safe then sorry. My hyundai elantra went for 120,000 miles with the same timing belt and is still going today with its new owner.

Cam Belt change

Hello mike_potts07: My name is Roger and I will answer your question. The suggested miles to change your timing belt is 60,000 miles. This is manufacturers recommended service interval. Also this motor is an interference motor. What that means is if the timing belt breaks. The valves in the head will be hit by the pistons. This will bend all valves that are open at that time.

Cam belt change on a kia sedona recommended milage

The recommended interval for changing the timing belt is in the owner's manual. Generally, this is every 60,000 miles.

Charlie

P.S. I found the data on the internet and, it is indeed 60,000 miles.
