Lose of oil pressure

This is not good .It could be a bad connection to the gauge or an oil pressure sending unit .
If it comes up to pressure and you have oil in it check the oil level if its good in general I would say its the oil pressure sending unit or the gauge maybe electrical connection.

My problem is when driving, the engine rattles bad especially when accelerating, I had noticed my oil level looked empty

Most engines take at least 5 quarts of oil. Have you check the dip stick to see how much is in there?

High temp low oil pressure light comes on after driving for a few minutes, then off when engine at driving rpm. At stop light (idle or low rpm) light comes back on. Normal driving it goes out.

You need to find out why you have low oil pressure. It is normal that as engine rpm's increase, the oil pressure will rise- the oil pump is moving oil faster. Even though your light goes out, you could still have critically low oil pressure. There should be sufficient pressure at idle to keep the light off. The light will come on when your oil pressure is almost nil- I believe for some it's as low as 8 psi. Normally, oil pressure at idle is specified anywhere from 15 to 40 psi. You would have to check specifications for your Expedition. To verify oil pressure, hook up a mechanical gauge at the oil pressure sending unit on the engine block. Check with a local shop.

The causes run from easy, simple to budget busting ruin. Low oil level, wrong grade oil, real old oil, oil leaks, internal oil leaks, worn oil pump, worn crankshaft bearings. It was pretty common on older very high mileage cars to have a fluttering oil light at stops and idle. It was time for a rebuild, or time to look for another car.

Oil light comes on when i put the clutch in and come to a stop

check the oil level in the sump. Ensure that the idle RPM is at 750rpm or above up to 1000rpm. Check for the correct grade of oil in the engine for you atmospheric temperature.

On my 93 Dodge Caravan ES 3.3L, when it comes to a stop and idles (at a light mostly) the check gauges light comes on. When the check gauges light comes on the oil gauge is at the bottom. When I tap...

Okay What it means is that the oil in your car is either low in level or the oil pressure at low revolutions is low. I highly recommend you to stop driving the car when this happen because you can internally damage the engine with a low oil or a low pressure of oil. Check the oil level first..make sure level is fine and oil looks good. Black and burned oil will give you a low oil pressure as well. If it happen that your car need a oil change. Make sure you get it done and see if the problem goes away. Very rarely oils pressure sensor goes bad but if oil is new and level is fine you can take the oil pressure sensor and connect a tester for a oil pressure. If this is not under the manufacturer specifications.. oil pump is worn out and you have to replace it for a new one.
Good luck and don't forget to rte me. Thanks

Oil light comes on when break then goes off

The oil light indicates that the engine's oil pressure has dropped below the minimum safe pressure. When the light goes out it suggests that pressure has been restored to a sufficient level for engine lubrication but this is nevertheless a bad sign.

I suspect that the oil level in the engine is too low and that the oil itself has greatly deteriorated and has not been changed for some time.

1. Check the oil level again, after the car has been standing for a few minutes, and make sure the engine oil level is at the maximum mark on the dip stick. If not then top it up.

2. Have the oil (and oil filter) changed in the car as soon as possible and ensure it is the correct spec viscosity oil for that engine .

3. Brake test the car to see if the oil light still comes on under braking.
If it recurs you need to have an oil pressure gauge hooked up to the engine (by an auto repair shop) to see what oil pressure is being achieved at various engine revs. If an independent gauge shows no problem with oil pressure then I would assume a faulty oil pressure sensor.
If the pressure gauge identifies a lower than normal oil pressure in the engine's lubrication system then the cause needs to be identified and fixed.

The "check gauges" light comes on intermittently on my 2001 jimmy

First thing I'd check is the oil level, coolant level. The check gauges light is illuminating because on of the gauges is below a certain pre-programmed threshold. The light is very similar to the old idiot lights that came on when it was too late. Cars used to have gauges and in the earlly 90's the manufacturers figured out that the majority of owners did'nt even read the owners manuals, let alone know how to read a gauge. So they started putting in idiot lights that would come on when there was a problem, they figured even an idiot could see a red light on and know there was a problem. The only problem was that the pressure switches that turned the lights on were set very low. Take for example an oil pressure switch (OPS). The switch is designed to close and complete a path to ground for a light, the problem is it closes aroung 3psi. Normal oil pressure is around 30, at 3 psi the cam and crank bearings are starving for oil, by the time you see the light on it's too late, the damage has already been done to the engine. So the manufacturers started installing gauges and lights to cover all the bases. So if I had to take a guess, I'd say you have and oil pressure problem. Check the oil, if it's low figure out where it's going, if it's not then you may have a faulty sending unit, confirm this by installing a manual oil pressure gauge in it's place. If the manual gauge shows low oil pressure then there may be some debris/sludge floating around in the oil pan stopping up the pickup screen or it could be a faulty pump.

Flashig oil light

You either have a loose/worn engine bearing or a worn out oil pump, do not drive the car this way, you will cause serious damage to the whole engine. A oil switch is for a light, it turns on the light when oil pressure falls below about 10 PSI, a sending unit is for a guage that shows oil pressure with a scale, it may have numbers on the guage or just green and red, or high and low.
