Question about 2000 Jeep Cherokee

1 Answer

The climate control system is not working right on my 2000 grand cherokee. The drivers side will not put out hot air but the passenger side will. The drivers side gets a little warmer at times but is mostly cooler air blowing out. I turned on the ac just to try something different and then the passengers side did not want to put out cold air even on its coldest setting.

The grand cherokees have a tendancy fot the control doors inside the heater box. they do make a update kit on ebay. most of the require removing dash but some have instructions to cut hole in heater box and replace doors from there.check ebay for blend doors. alot of sites have video instructions on how to fix

You will have to check the flap operating controls behind the centre consol as anything could be wrong from a vacumn pipe to a operating mechanism ,even the computer controlling the climatic control .

2000 jeep grand cherokee limited with climate controle and 6 cyl. the ac blows cold on the driver side and hot on the passenger side.

If you have duel climate control, it sounds like the blend doors inside the heater box have broke. It is a rather large repair to do. If you don't have duel climate control, look for a broken, leaking or aged vacuum line under the battery try. Hope this helps.

Best of luck

2002 Grand CHerokee: in cooling mode (summer), the

This is a chronic problem with Grand Cherokees. The blend doors inside the air box in the dash fail over time. This is caused by cheap plastic parts used by Chrysler that break easily.

Your problem is the forth Jeep I have seen like this in the past 2 months.

To check your climate control system for fault codes do this:

-Turn key to 'on'
-press and hold 'a/c' and 'recirc' buttons and turn drivers side temp knob clockwise one click.

Now the display will show 0 if no codes are present or one or more numbers if something is wrong.

You can check what these codes mean here: http://www.wjjeeps.com/climate.htm

Climate control issues. Hot on drivers side and cold on passenger

Unfortunately this is a pricey repair. It sounds like the passenger side blend door is broken. The doors in the HVAC box are a weak point in the system. It's not uncommon for them to break and cause the situation your experiencing, or sometimes the reverse. It requires removal of the dash board to replace the blend doors. I'd say it's probably at the least $1k as it's about a 7-8 hour job.

look for Main A/C relay, look for fuses, or go to a/c shop and have gas check out, perhaps leaks, perhaps evaporator, perhaps condenser, but start for relay box on front passengers side, or fuses on same side

Heat works on driver side, passenger side blows cold air.

Did you check your coolant level or was it low and you added to it at some point? If so the system my need to be bleed or worst case the thermostat is going bad.
