The switch is under the brake pedal. Yes the switch is probable sticking. You can get a new one at any pars store. The are pretty easy to change.

Why is the break lights staying on even when I'm not pushing on the breaks???

Check whether the brake switch has any adjustment. If the brake light, rather than the stop light. stays on something should be amiss with the pedal and or the switch. It might be due to a short but the first 2 are more likely

Break lights stay on when car if off

I had this same problem. I turned off my car and the brake lights stayed on. I looked under the dash and found that the brake pedal, when not pressed, barely touched the brake light switch, which controls whether the brake lights are on or off. Initially though I just wedge a thin piece of adhesive foam between the pedal and switch, which worked fine for several months until I found the time to properly fix it. My brake light switch was adjustable so i eventually adjusted the nuts on each side of the brake switch holding it to the pedal bracket so that the brake pedal pushed in the white brake light switch when released. Hope this helps!

I have a 1991 firebird brake lights stay on after i turn off enginei can manual lift brake pedal and they stay off but i have to prop a stick under pedal so it stay off. please help its driving me...

If the brake lights are staying on when you shut the car off, they are staying on when you are driving too. The easiest way to repair this would be to attach a spring to the brake pedal and run it up to one of the steel braces under the dash. It needs to be heavy enough to pull the pedal back but not so heavy as to make braking difficult. Initially you could probably use a bungee cord to sort out how heavy a spring you would need but I wouldn't trust the cord too long. They can stretch and break without warning. You will likely have to drill a hole in the brake pedal arm to attach the spring. Hope this helps.

I ran a car this way for a couple years without any trouble but I don't remember where I got the spring. The wire for the spring was about 1mm thick and the coil was big enough to slide a pencil into it. Hope this helps.

I have a 92 pontiac sunbird le 4cyl 207000 miles and driving home today the abs light in the dash just started flashing any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

When your abs light comes on it means that something is wrong with you ABS system. Sometimes the abs sensor get durty and can make the ABS light come on in the dash.

92 sunbird turn signal will not flash only hazard signal works

I have the same Problem. Replaced fuses, turn signal lights, electronic flasher and steering column switch, I had an electrician check it out, and assess that there is a short somewhere in the circuit before the flasher. Hard to get at.

Break lights are stuck on, why?

look under the dash and find the break pedal. follow the break pedal arm up under the dash. there should be a small switch that the break pedal arm presses in when you push the pedal. this switch can either be bad or it could be out of adjustment and something near by has moved and it is in a bind to where the switch is pressed in all the time.... has it been running your battery down...?

Car stalls out while running

It sounds like it's not getting enough fuel to the engine if it stalls when you let up off the gas pedal but stays running with your foot on the gas it sounds like you need a new fuel pump and or fuel filter for the car.I can almost garantee thats part of the problem
