In a word, you can't. You own a very desirable, high end, luxury SUV that is protected by a highly advanced anti-theft system and immobilizer. It is all computer controlled by the chip in the key, the transponder in the steering column, the anti-theft module, the Body Control Module, the Engine Control module and all the sensors in the vehicle. When the car was new, it came with three full keys and a valet key.
Your dealership can supply a new key based on the VIN Number and reprogram the anti-theft system and immobilizer.
Sorry you can't. Ford's suck because you have to have two keys to reprogram the security to the keys. Last one I had done cost about $200. Dealer only.
Technically you can't. The computer will not power up the coil and injectors without that chip. You can add a new chip as long as you have the old one, but it takes a dealer or really good locksmith to cut a new key with the original chip, or reprogram the system for a new key.
Does the starter turn over when you are trying to start before you remove the battery cables or do you have only dash lights and nothing else (not even a click). I don't believe you need a key with a chip for 2000 model, they have an ignition switch system that is basically synced to the lock cylinder and key. The ignition switch can go bad and you'll see the theft light flash on the dash. If you decide to install a new switch yourself, there is a 30minute process to reprogram the theft system to your key. It can be done by yourself, but you have to be there the whole time and need to have a battery charger hooked up while performing this operation.
you may have to tow your car to your gm dealer to get your pats keys reprogrammed. your key has a computer chip in it ,if your using a different key without that chip ,your car wont start
