Question about Chevrolet Cobalt

1 Answer

For about one month, the Check Engine Light of my 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt has gone on and off intermittantly. It has always glowed steadily, as opposed to flickering or flashing. It may stay on as long as 2 days, or less than one full day. This seems to happen whenever the weather changes. Here in Atlanta, Georgia, that can be, as has been, from relatively warm, with high temperatures in the low fifties, to cold, with high temperatures in the thirtie, and in the twenties at night. Any ideas regarding what is going on, and how serious this is?

Code P0013

Pretty common. First, if you have not already done so, have a parts store reset the engine light. sometimes the solenoid sticks under hard acceleration and the problem is very intermittent. if it recurs, doesn't necessarily mean the solenoid is bad. Change your oil if it's been more than 5000 miles or 6 months, as buildup can cause this. Be sure to use the recommended oil per the manufacturer. If the issue returns continuously then you may well need to visit a reputable garage.

2005 cobalt , engine chokes and kills in stopped or idle position

Could be a dirty throttle body, faulty idle control valve, or a vac leak. Usually if the idle control valve fails the check engine light will come on.

2006 chevy cobalt code po446= check engine light on- how do i reset light

Check Engine light must be reset with a scan tool. If the problem has been repaired the light can be reset. Some parts stores will check and reset for free, otherwise it will have to be taken to a shop where they may charge a fee to check and reset it for you.

You likely have a failed sensor, as your computer has gone into limp mode. Get the car to a parts chain for a free OBD scan and write down the trouble code(s). Report the codes back to us for repair advice.

My daughters 2005 cobalt had a shift selector problem (spilled soda in it). The problem was fixed and it now allows her to turn the key completely off but now she has a check engine light on. What is...

It may be coincidental or maybe not. You will have to put a diagnostic reader to find what the check engine light problem is. This usually will give the problem from a code selection.

2005 chevy cobalt check engine light on

i went to advance auto and they pulled the check engine light code and they said it was just wet electrical equipment from all the rain we have had and that it would dry out in a couple of drives so they reset the code and told me to come back in if it comes back on.

2005 Chevy Cobalt, how do you reset a fault code?

Your car has a OBD2 hook up under the dash somewhere on the drivers side, You have to have a computer to hook up to that ODB plug and reset it, If you live near a Autozone they will clear the code for you for free, One other thing you try is disconnecting your battery for about 30 mins, that works on alot cars to reset the check light.
