It is a press in pipe. just pull it out of the steel pipe and get the same type of pipe. Press it back onto the steel pipe. no clamps needed. enjoy from Willem SA

4wheel light comes on not in 4 wheel drived

Oh dear, my 1992 GMC S15 has the same problem. Just found out it's in the vacuum 4wd activation system. Could be vacuum hoses (they've never been checked or changed), or some sensor. But my light comes on!! After a bit of time it does kick in. This next spring I'll check out the hoses etc. You might have someone check yours.

My 2002 Kia sportage 4wd keeps jumping into 4wd while driving and it make an awful noise

I had the same problem on my 99 sportive. It turns out that there is a vacuum leak in the hubs. I solved it by changing the auto hubs to manual hubs and have had not problem since. When I lock the hubs in 4wd I hear a winning from the wheals but not that nasty noise. I hope that his helps with your problem. Chris Tina

Kia sportage not going into 4 wheel drive when selected could this be diaphrams ?

with 4wd engaged check that the front tailshaft to the diff does not turn more than 45* if this is ok and no 4wd light check bulb switch and wiring. if light ok you will need to track down vacuum leak to drive hubs fault { common fault } you can check 4wd operation by raising one front wheel with handbrake on and car in netural select 4wd with engine running if 4wd ok raised wheel will not turn more than 45* by hand and will spin free when 4wd disconnected

95 kia sportage transfer case engages, but hubs do nnot lock. my light for 4X4 lights up,

the vacuum hoses or wheel seals are leaking in the front wheels. they are vacuum operated. the dealer has kits you can buy to convert to manuel locking hubs, they had alot of problems with the vacuum hubs

2001 Kia sportage light indicates the 4WD is engaged but it is not

IT IS PROBABLY THE LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL. IT USES A VACUUM TO LOCK IN THE FRONT WHEELS. CHECK TO SEE IF THE HOSES ARE ROTTED OR CHRACKED OR TORN. OR IT COULD BE THE VACCUM TANK OR PUMP IS BAD

4wd not engaging

Hi,

I have a 2000 Sportage EX, had the same trouble.

The 4wd works by Vacuum lines(rubber hoses) that uses air to lock the front hubs in.

Usually the rubber hose line behind the front tires at hub to the frame become dry rot,cracked---replace them and try it.

If hoses still good or replaced and still not working----there is a Vacuum pump under the hood near brake master cylinder(driver side on inner fender near windshield)---It looks like the size of a "D" flashlight battery with hoses attached and a single wire connected to bottom of it----sometimes these little pumps go bad too.

Other than that the Front hubs(automatic) might be bad(like a leaky air bag that wont inflate to lock hubs)---this can be a costly replace.

One last resort to avoid all this hassle----get a manual "WARN" locking hubs put on car(about $150)---this way you can lock the hubs manually by a 1/4 turn slot at each front tire to go in 4wd when needed.

Good luck---hope this helps.

Vacuum hose diagram

The rubber vacuum hose comes off the intake manifold inside the engine compartment.
The vacuum lines are located on left side fender, under the hood.
If you look facing motor you will see tehm on the right side.
