SOURCE: Moaning noise in steering column

The probably lubed the intermediat shaft conenction. The loud poping noise could be from them not sitting the boot back correctly. Inspect your boot. As for the moaning noise Only thing I can think of is a hydraulic noise.

SOURCE: 2000 GMC Jimmy Transmission Whine

I recently took my vehicle to a transmission shop and they had to rebuilt the transmission right through. I was recently told that the transmission is a common problem in these vehicles. Sad that GM can not fix or recall the transmisison since there is a problem.

SOURCE: 4 wheel drive making funny noise -

Have you ever changed the front axle fluid level?  I noticed the same rubbing sound but only when I turn left or right in 4 wheel drive.  I don't hear it going straight.  I just changed my front axle fluid with synthetic mobile 1 synthetic SAE 75W-90.  I plan on changing the rear axle tomorrow with the same synthetic grade oil.  I will also change the transfer case sometime this week with dextron III.  My e-mail address is averion5496@yahoo.com if you want to follow up with my on my findings.  How difficult is it to change?  From a scale of 1 to 10, it was an 8.  Messy since you have to get the bottle above the hole.  I would purchase a manual oil pump which makes it less messy.  It took 2 quarts for the front axle with 75W-90.

You need a steering pump. or you could have someone rebuild the one you have for half the price.

SOURCE: I have a 2003 Yukon

My 2003 yukon xl does the exact same thing. Sorry that I do not have a solution, but I figure its the same reason the daytime running lights always burn-out. The SUV in general has be an absolute POS and I will never buy another.

When I drive at high speed there is a funny sound from steering sound like garrrrr and the steering vibrate

When I drive at high speeds I hear a funny siren sound with blue lights flashing :) Seriously though, the power steering fluid may be aerated or low and moaning which can make the steering wheel feel odd, as in vibrating . See what your fluid looks like and the level of it.

Need your help.... I'm hearing a moaning while driving

Have you not changed the Power Steering Fluid every
3 years, since the vehicle was new ?

Should treat the trans the same

Do not need any Genie in a Bottle, added to anything,
just the correct fluid

When im driving the car moans and moans even louder when i turn the wheel, the faster i drive the louder the sound gets

You should check the power steering fluid level first. However, you said the noise gets louder if you turn the wheel. That sounds like a front hub bearing. To check the front and rear hubs, raise the tires off the ground one at a time. Try to move the tire in & out at the top, sides and bottom. spin the tire if you can. Only a tiny amount of play, if any, is acceptable. If you hear or feel rumbling or roughness when turning the tire, the hub is bad and must be replaced

Makes noises steering, just sounds like some old person moaning when steering, also from the rear I hear a wierd noise almost like a leaky exhaust when I hit the gas I hear a hissing whining noise those...

sounds like it may have an exhaust leak, rusted pipe or gasket that has rotted out, lift car off ground and look at the exhaust system and the power steering may be low on fluid. Hope this answered you questions.

Whining when i press gas

normally, the only part of your automatic transmission that will make a whining noise is the pump. it usually whines when iether the fluid is low or more commonly when the transmission oil filter is getting plugged up.

the power steering pump will also make a whining noise too.

turn the wheel all the way to the right and hold steady pressure against the stop. this puts maximum force on the power steering pump and, if the power steering pump is the one making the whine, it will change the sound of it. (usually louder).

if the trans pump is making the whine noise, it should sound different in neutral compared to drive. this test will really only work if it make the noise without the vehicle moving. if it wont do it at idle hold the rpms at 2000 or so.

if you decide the noise is coming from the transmission, and the transmission filter has not been replaced (assuming you installed a used transmission), replace the filter by removing the oil pan.

oh and also, if it is the power steering pump you should be able to make it make the whining noise while the vehicle is stationary. if it wont make noise unless its moving its not the power steering pump.

My jeep started whining yesterday whenI used my automatic start. after a couple of minutes it went away. today the same thing happened but it lasted the entire time I used the car (about 2 hours) sounded...

A noise like that is somewhat serious...It could be from low power steering fluid, low transmission fluid or even the starter remaining engaged. You need to find the source of the noise right away to avoid major damage!!!
