I have a 2003 Pathfinder and every time I refuel gas keeps shooting out as if the tank is full, but its empty? What can I do?

There may be an updated sensor to install refer to service bulletin 07-069A your dealer can find it for you.

most of the time this is simply just the float in the gas tank getting stuck had the same problem in my car. unfortunately you have to access the gas tank to fix, but it is an easy fix. hope this helps any questions let me know.

Also, be sure to not over-fill the gas tank. When filling the tank, when it sounds full (you can hear gas gush up the filler neck) and when the filler clicks off the first time...don't be tempted to keep clicking more gas into the tank because over-filling can cause a variety of problems (including setting the light) and can eventually saturate/ruin the fuel vapor canisters.

Don't put the nozzle in all the way.

If you don't get offered a fix, this is a problem you can learn to live with.

Get used to filling the tank to the brim (that may not be so unusual in your part of the world - certainly is here, the way they tax fuel!) and resetting the trip counter on your dash every time you fill up.

For the first few times, fill up after a couple of hundred miles; note the amount of fuel it takes and the distance you've driven. Divide miles by gallons to get your average fuel consumption (average this over a few goes to get a reliable figure).

Find out from the user manual how much fuel the tank holds (if it gives several figures, the one you want is "useable" fuel). Multiply this capacity by the consumption you calculated earlier, and you'll get a very good estimate of the distance you can go before you run out.

Now all you need to do is to keep an eye on the trip counter, and remember to refuel every time you get to (say) 75% of your theoretical maximum distance.

This method has worked well for me over a number of vehicles, none with a particularly effective fuel gauge.

Your evap charcoal canister is full from being overfilled. The biggest problem with "topping off" is that it can wreck the evap system.
This system collects gasoline fumes from the tank and routes them to the engine for combustion.
Overfilling could force raw gas to enter the system and prevent it from working right. It could also cause a condition where you have a hard time filling the tank, as the system can't properly relieve pressure from the tank and the gas pump's automatic shutoff keeps engaging.

You will need to replace the canister for the fix.

There is air outlet in fuel line refueling point to tank this may clogged you need to replace the fuel line from the refueling point to fuel tank.......

Since you don't usually fill up at the exact same pump all the time, and this continually happens, it sounds more like your gas guage may be broken, rather then a default with the tank itself. Try measuring the miles or kilometers you get and compare it to ur car manual to verify this.
