Won't shift out of park

My Riviera would do the same thing. Turned out that the Brake-Shift interlock solenoid was gummed up/bad. I ended up just removing it and just being careful to put my foot on the brake pedal like my truck from the 60's.

My 98 riviera is not shifting right. The rpm is not going into the red. I put a transmission filter kit on it and its still not shifting right. Can anyone help me solve this problem?

If shifting malfunctions exist on the transmission, then the solenoid(s) may be bad on it that determines shift points along with the PCM or powertrain control module.

Do you have any codes stored in the obd-II computer associated with this problem? Sometimes there will be on obd-II cars. Sometimes, though, no code will be stored, but the car will malfunction.

1996 buick riviera wont shift into drive

When buying, consider the vehicle to have no transmission...if its worth 600 plus the cost of a trans then buy it. With no trans, there's no test drive (surprise package)
