It might be that one of the chips on the motherboard has come loose or the battery connections are no longer touching, open the remote up and just squeez the contacts a bit not to much though as they are delicate dont leave the battery out to long or it will need reprograming, this is how, switch ignition on, then switch ignition off, remove key you have to deactivate the system by using the 4 digit code from the vehicle security card...see hand book, once done, stand close to the vehicle, and press either button on the remote 4 times or more in quick succession, then it should work again...hope this helps

Have new key fob for 1998 landrover discovery how to i program it to my vehicle

Unfortunately you don't.

It has to go to the main dealer or a suitably equipped automotive locksmith: reprogramming requires that the vehicle plus all keys/fobs which you want to use are presented for reprogramming together. If you forget to take along any existing fobs or chipped keys then they probably won't work afterwards.

Key fob problem

Not to be a smart azz but have you replaced the battery yet in the fob?

If so then it could be a bad fob, reciever, power issue, etc...

Windows

Hi.

I had this problem on my discovery 300 tdi, behind the gove box is a black box bolted onto the small bulkhead if you open this, you will find a circuit board with 2 plugs going into it, this is the ecu for the windows you will find that there will be a dry soldier joint on the circuit board just check this, my discovery had the same problem, re-soldiered the circuit board and all works fine.

If you google for landrover forums you will find the answer on there.

hope this helps.
