If your temp gauge on the dash never gets to operating temp your thermostat is stuck open and needs to be replaced.

What would make a 2000 buick park avenue over heat and shut off

over heating is from ---low coolant level--blocked radiator cores--fins missing from radiator cores--thermostat not opening--coolant temperature sensor not operating the cooling fan-- driving to fast and not engaging over drive ---if the fan is mechanical and there is a viscous fan hub then the hub is faulty ( overheating at lights but cools down on moving)-- faulty radiator cap--- air in cooling system--run fault codes to check for problems with mixture and timing---low tyre pressures at speed ---over loading--pulling a heavy trailer ---hilly conditions

Perhaps some where in that list you will find an answer to your question

00' intrigue is over heating with ac on and parked. Any idieas why?

My only guess is either the temperature pressure switch is malfunctioning, or you have a leaking intake manifold. I would do a coolant pressure test on the radiator, put a/c on full blast while driving, or turn a/c completely off while driving. BUT, drive a good distance, when doing both. Release pressure before driving. As soon as you get back, do another immediate pressure test, then check your heater hoses under dash behind motor for leaks. This will put severe strain on the heating and cooling system as well as the a/c accumulator and condensor lines. Hope this helps

2000 acura tl coolant fan after fluid change

New thermostat, installed, saw, new coolant made a little mess filling reservoir, (normal) checked fan fuse for some reason, and condenser fan fuse (xxx ?:), and temp guage, is slightly lower on gauge (than normal?) (disconnected xxxx? quit? a bit? to get to thermosta?.t no dash warning lights have a feeling I popped a relay.

Answer:

ok, you did a coolant service with STAT,

and it failed.

tell us what works right and wrong, symptoms only.

over heating? parked, (fan never comes on)? as it hits 225F?

under heating? ( fan stuck on , up North can cause huge cold engine)

dash gauge stuck low. (thermostat wrong heat range 180f is best. see FSM for spec. on this temp. spec..

Dash guage varies.? oddly (air in system)?

Dash gauge too high.? (Stat put in upside-down or bleed hole (jiggle) not UP side. higher side of mount , trapping air.)

Does something wrong happen only driving?

leaks?

does cap on rad hold 12-14psi pressure, hot.?

if car has fan belts, are they tight? (for sure water pump does)

Vehicle running hot when driving in congested traffic

More than likely fan clutch is bad. It's a thermo-coupled clutch on the rear of your fan. They wear out as they get older.

sounds like the drivers temp door actuator is not working should be located on the drivers side of the air box down by the gas pedal or center dash area
