Question about 1996 Audi A4

1 Answer

Hi, My 2001 A6 has a problem blowing hot air through the blower. it starts to some what warm up after the gauge shows the engine temp at half but if i speed off on the high way for a little bit or even down my street the same engine temp gauge drops very quick to barely warm. both hoses to the heating core are hot when engine is at normal temp but still barely warm air inside. the flaps are not stuck or anything also. the Air conditioner works good if i set the temp to low but when i set it back to high...warms up just a little and thats all. Any help? i would very much appreciate it. The dealer wanted around 800 buck for this fix... and they dont even know what it is yet...

Your thermostat is stuck open ive changed a few of them and it is very labor intensive the part is like 20 bucks but the front of the car has to be removed to change it the fastest i can do it is 4 hours the first one i changed took 7 hours. thats why the dealership wants so much they do already know whats wrong its a common problem.

Audi A4 1.9tdi Quattro 1997- Blower fan was only blowing cold air. Changed intercooler radiator as it was leaking, but fan still blowing cold air. engine temp went over half and then came back down. Only...

REPLACE THERMOSTAT.MAKE SURE COOLANT SUPPLY PIPE OR COOLANT RETURN PIPE NOT STOPPED UP AND YOU HAVE ENOUGH COOLANT IN THE SYSTEM.REPLACE THERMOSTAT.CRANK ENGINE UP AND LET IDLE UNTIL WARM UP KEEP EYES ON TEMPERATURE GAUGE. WHEN ENGINE THERMOSTAT OPEN COOLANT HOSE SHOULD BE HOT.IF NOT TURN OFF ENGINE.USE LARGE RAG WAIT A WHILE BEFORE REMOVING RADIATOR CAP CHECK TO SEE IF COOLANT LEVEL DROPPING IF SO ADD MORE COOLANT.CRANK ENGINE UP UNTIL THERMOSTAT OPENS UP.HOSE WILL GET HOT.IF STILL COLD CHECK COOLANT LEVEL.ONCE YOU AIR OUT COOLANT SYSTEM RADIATOR HOSES WILL GET HOT SO YOU WILL GET HEAT.IF COOLANT LOW YOU WONT GET NO HEAT.

if the engine is not reaching operating temp, then the heater is never going to blow warm air. I would start with checking temp of engine, if its not warm enough (180f) I would replace the thermostat

On my wifes 2004 yukon, the engine warms up and the blower works fine, but it takes forever for the air to finally blow warmly. when it finally does, if we switch it to another location (floor or defrost),...

iwould check the selector motor, and also replace the thermostant, start with the stant first, the selector motor is what runs the door for hot or cold the motor is a common problem,if the temp gauge is showing a quick warm up temp then its the selector motor, if it takes a while to reach operating temp then replace the t-stant,also make sure the coolant is full in radiator, check when cold or warm, dont open when hot, hope this is helpful.

The heater in my 2001 Sierra Z71 takes a long time to warm up. MOstly does not heat up at all. How do I trouble shoot this?

THE 1ST THING U DO IS GO UNDER THE HOOD WHEN ENGINE IS HOT, CHECK THAT BOTH HEATER HOSES (INLET AND OUTLET) ARE GETTING HOT, IF ONLY ONE IS HOT FLUSH THE CORE, IF BOTH ARE JUST WARM THEN THE THERMOSTAT IS DEFECTIVE IN THE ENGINE, REPLACE IT, LET ME KLNOW WHAT YOU FIND.

Audi a6 heaters not given out hot air

this is more than likely a problem with your thermostat in the cooling system .heres a few things to check to be sure make certain your blower fan is on high and temp setting is in the hottest setting check to see if   air is coming from your heater ducts  also be sure to thoroughly let the engine warm up 10 to 20 minutes  before checking. if the air is blowing but  luke warm still your thermostat is stuck in the open position  and will cause the engine to run to cold and performance will also suffer as will your heat will not be sufficient  to heat the passenger compartment  this repair should cost no more than $150 max to replace buy a repair shop    this is a  common problem in older cars and this is generally   a quick  repair to be made  for almost any repair facility  should take under 45 minutes to complete once repair is started
