heater matrix is blocked, make sure you flush the system before fitting a new one and run the correct coolant/antifreeze levels.

Good day, the heater core/coil is leaking antifreeze and needs to be replaced. The heater core works in conjunction with your engine's cooling system. The function of the cooling system is to remove heat from the engine, and it does this for the most part by sending the heated anti-freeze to the radiator located in the front of the car. The position of the radiator allows outside air to blow across the radiator thus cooling the anti-freeze.The anti-freeze is then sent back to the engine. Hot anti-freeze is circulated throughout the cooling system by the radiator and heater hoses. Think of the heater core as a small radiator located inside the dashboard of your vehicle. hope this helps, have a nice day

Sounds like a sticking thermostat, if its running hot and the thermo is sticking, then it wont circulate through the heater core and the gauge will read hot, replace the thermostat.

Here are a few reasons, low on coolant due to a leak in the cooling system, plugged heater core due to poor cooling system maintanence and temperature blend door or temp blend valve not functioning properly. Also a stuck open thermostat could cause this.

In the Service Repair can find the procedure to solve this thermostat replacement:
- Section-07-Cooling-System-Ewj7 (page 11 / Diagnosis)
- Section-07a-Cooling-System-Ewj7a (page 25 /Replacement)

Hope this help.

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Originally blew only cold air no matter what the heat settings were at. Then blower stopped working. Discovered wires were corroded and replaced them as well installed...

either bad recirc doors or a possible bad heater core. Open the hood and when the car is warmed up to mid point on the temp gauge look on the passenger's side firewall under the hood. You will see 2 black rubber hoses running through the firewall. Feel each hose and if one of the 2 are cold then you have a bad heater core. Otherwise most likely the recirc door.

2001 Grand Cherokee Heat on one side cold air on the other side?

The blend door on the passenger side has broken. Jeep has made a replacement section for the heater box assembly so you don't have to buy the whole thing. You will need to remove the heater/A/C box to replace the part. I have done quite a few of these repairs to fix the problem
