Why is the interior fan coming on if the car is not running?

    Sholly,

I printed the information from the website, however it does not give me an answer. My ac/heater fan should not be running if off. It is coming on automatically when the car is not running and killing my battery. The fan starts all by itself after the ignition is off. Could it be my relay?

Please I will want you to appeal to the site below which contains a comprehensive manual about the cooling system of a vehicle which the fan happens to be part of.

I hope it will sort you out anyway.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya.

Fan keeps running

Radiator fan? should run if the coolant is hot, key on or not.

If it runs when the coolant is at ambient temps, there's a problem.
If the interior heater / AC fan runs without the key, there's a problem.

Nissan Maxima interior fan motor quits running

I am gonna assume its a older maxima 1995-2001??maybe?? those had some harness issues. also there is a small drain tube for a/c drain, which clogs up and water has nowhere to go after evaporator box fills up. after that happens, the water will run on top of the ECM/computer and will flood it and fry it. need more info. not 100%sure what model year it is.

VW Jetta fan, wipers, headlights work until engine starts. Then they do not always function.

I would suspect you have a defective ignition starter switch, this is the main switch the the ignition key cylinder operates and it powers up the while electrical system,. It is under the steering column covers.

My 02 nissan pathfinder interior fan runs even when not turned on.checked all fuses they seem to be fine.

If fan still runs when all your heater control knobs and buttons are off, it is likely a bad heater fan switch. Unless you have something like a body control module found on newer cars that has some control over interior functions. If not, try a new heater fan switch. Good luck.

Running hot do to raditor hoses not hooked up proper

You sure? Hard to reroute hoses on a MB.. Most likely culprits in this order, thermostat, radiator cap seal/spring, fan/fans not coming on, viscous fan clutch(mechanical) bad, switch on a/c that reads charge/low a/c charge not turning fan on when interior cooling on.

Interior Fan Motor won't stop 2004 VW Touareg

Find and replace the Blower fan relay, not sure where it is on your VW but it's common to be in with the fuse box by the battery. Good luck and hope this helps. When the relay goes bad from the heat of the electrical current, it seizes and does not disengage keeping the connection causing the ran to keep running.

Interior fan won't run to run A/C or heater. I

If blower only works on high speed I would say blower motor resistor but if it does not work at all I would suspect blower motor. Make sure you are getting power to motor if not it might be blower motor switch.

Replaced relay, but both electric fans won't come on

Are we talking about the cooling fans for the engine and AC condenser?? Only one cooling fan will cycle on and off during normal operation. The main cooling fan will cycle on and off as needed for cooling the engine. If you turn on the AC or select a defrost mode on your climate control then the 2nd additional fan will run usually continuously in order to condense the freon in your AC system for cooling the interior of your car and in defrost mode it helps to reduce interior moisture on the glass (defog/ defrost). If no fan comes on at any time whether the engine is hot or cold or whether you turn on the AC or not and you have already replaced a cooling fan relay and checked related fuses then either the fan /s are bad or you dont have power in or out of the fan circuit which consists of several components that would need to be checked. Let us know if you find anything else or have additional questions.
