You can take it to a mechanic, have them put it on their scanner, and they should be able to access the true mileage.

If I change the cluster on my 2003 Monte Carlo will the original miles show up on the new one?

You never know, but most of the time the reading on the odometer will stay with the dash you are installing, your old dash reading will not show on the new dash odometer.

Can dealers or shops read the computer on my 1997 ford escort to determine the exact miles from the odometer?

Who are you trying to fool? I'm not sure, but I think when you change a dash cluster the mileage will be that of the new cluster, but I think some cars have an interplay with the ECU, such that the dealer can make the dash show real miles. Sorry, not a good answer I guess.

Thinking about buying a ford escape..2009....miles @ 132, this good to buy with mileage being high

Normally this amount of mileage is fine...The Escape is safe, and popular...At these miles, the motor should have been tuned up...brakes replaced recently? Also front and rear struts are usually worn out before 80,000 miles...have they been replaced? A service record on this Escape may be available? Can you talk with the previous owner?

Was geting 18 miles to the gallon now geting 14 it the fuel pump or the air felter. and it had a tune up.

A tune up can reduce mileage. If they set the timing perfectly, that could reduce power and waste gas. You get the most mileage and power if the ignition is advanced as much as possible, until you get a pre-ignition ping in hard 2nd gear acceleration. They you know you have to back off a bit.
Fuel pump should get weaker with age, so should not cause worse mileage.
Air filter has much more effect on a carburetor, and little on a fuel injected car. But why not change it anyway?
If it idles rough, I would suspect a plug wire.

I have a 1985 300zx with a digital dash & analog miles counter---the speedometer & all digital systems work fine, except now the miles aren`t calculating, nor does the digital gas counter work which...

I believe there is an "amplifier" box, as you described, for the digital dash, I think under the dash towards the center console. Check out or call your local Nissan parts counter for exact location.. They should be able to tell you.
I don't know about the miles counter. If your speedometer works, it shouldn't be the speedometer cable. Sorry I can't help you on that.
My parts counter guy has always been helpful in trying to troubleshoot many issues. At least you should know his name.
Also, check out your local Z club. and maybe
Good luck and happy motoring,
