Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
2001 Jeep Cherokee sport. Power door locks won't lock but open locks no problem. Same result on both passenger and driver door. Power locks open but don't lock. No sound like trying to lock when pushing lock side of switch, just nothing. Could it be a fuse?
Lock and unlock both run off the same power supply...I'd be looking for a bad switch or a broken wire in the door harness where the wires go through the rubber boot between the door and pillar.

Can you open the door? Most likely the door is not making (enough) contact with the plunger which shuts off the lights. If you can get to this plunger, until you get the door fixed, either tape the plunger to the "in" position, or tape something to the door itself to close the gap between the door and the plunger to make the plunger go in. I have had to use quarters (25cents) and duck tape until more permanent repasirs could be made.
Also: there should be on your dash: panel and interior light dimmer/turn off switch. You can turn this/set this so the interior lights do not come on at all.
