Question about 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

1 Answer

Fuel gauge is all over the place. After I fill up with gas, it goes to empty. Then it goes back & forth. Took it to a dealer, supposedly they fixed the problem. Next time I filled the tank, it went to empty again & the bells started ringing again. Does GM even know how to fix the problem??

I would take it back, you paid to fix that problem, they misdiaganosed it, it sounds like a bad fuel sending unit or a bad ground wire to that unit, also gm had a lot of problems with those clusters ( gauge unit), good luck.

With the gas gauge not working right, you have probably never let it get completely empty. And as far as the gas gauge goes, it's probably the fuel level switch. you can not purchase these separate from the sending unit. It would be a $500.00 + I would live with it untill the pump goes out, because this is part of the sending unit also.

The fuel guage on my 2004 Chrysler Pacifica jumps around

This is a simple service fix. It's a glitch in the computer system. Take it to the dealer and there is some sort of code they can enter to "update" the car's computer.
Mine does it occasionaly, it annoying, but not harmful.
I've heard of some that will act up for a while, then stop, while others, have acted up and them the fuel gauge stays on empty.
Talk to the dealer.

2006 envoy gas cap won't tighten and the fuel gauge reads empty on fill up and fluctuates back and forth.

You can just replace the gas cap...However about the fuel guage fluctuates back and forth...thats due to the sending unit, which is located on the fuel pump itself
