I have found that it is rare that a relay completely fails(not saying that it won't happen) just rare, that being said, you could use a multi-meter to test for continuity through the contacts, and you could get creative and energize the coil to make sure it is operating, but if you suspect the relay,I would replace it, they don't cost much and at least you will have removed that part as a suspect of the problem.

Good Luck !

Where is fuse and relay on the fuel pump a 2005 kia sedona and is there a fuel pump restart buttom

Look in the fuse box in the engine bay near the battery for (Right Hand Drive models.) Look on the inside of the cover and you will see a 'map' of all the fuses and relays. Align the map to compare with the arrangement of fuses and relays in the box to make it easier. No fuel pump restart button. This guide is for petrol(gasoline) model.

1994 astro van wont start seems like no fuel, how to test fuelpump?

If you don't have fuel pressure test equipment then try spraying engine starting fluid in the air cleaner if it starts then you probably have a bad fuel pump, fuse or relay. The easiest is to check all your fuses if they look good. Look for the relay center under the hood the cover to the relay center will tell you which relay is the fuel pump relay. Try swapping relays with one that looks the same in the relay center. If it starts after swapping relays then you have a bad relay. Hope this helps you :)

How to change a fuel pump in a 1996 Gmc Sonoma Pickup 4 cyl. ? How can you tell if a fuel relay is bad? If the fuel relay is bad, will the fuel pump still work?

drop the tank ... use a brass punch to loosen the ring ... to find/replace the pump.

the relay is operated by the computer ...

Check for volts on the outgoing side of the relay ...

check for signal on the input side

check the pressure regulartor ...

If you are still interested ... there is lots more to this. If you are getting weak knees ... remember after you drop the tank and remove the fuel pump ... you are stuck

1997 dodge ram won't start. My fuel pump does not run and coil won't spark. Iv'e checked fuses and relays and they look fine. Could a bad fuel pump cause the asd to kill power to the coil?

First check any ignition/fuel related fuses. Check to make sure you have 12 volts coming into the pump and coil. If nothing to the fuel pump replace the fuel pump relay - if you do have power to the fuel pump then replace the pump. If nothing is coming to the coil it is either an ignition relay or a wiring issue. If you have 12 volts to the coil but no spark then replace the coil.
Also the fuel pump/relay would not kill the coil.

Fuel Pump is not activating when ignition switch is turned, I can hear the clicks in the relay box. Does this mean the relay went bad?

Not usually, when you hear clicks it means the relay is switching. Its probably the fuel pump that needs attention.

How can you tell if the fuel pump or the fuel relay are bad, just changed the filter car ran fine for a day. can't here the pump all the time, it seems to come and go.What do think?

very good chance the fuel pump is going bad.you can put your figer on top of the fuel pump relay and have someone turn on the key listen and feel for a click from the relay. if none you will need to use a volt meter and check the fuel pump fuse.if ok replace the fuel pumpor drop the tank and test for voltage to pump. hope this helps.

No Power to Fuel pump

I would check the ground for the fuel pump relay that operates the switch side of the relay.
You should have 2 12v inputs to the relay. When the relay gets 12v input, it closes the relay switch on the heavy current side that sends 12v to the fuel pump.

A relay is needed because you don't want heavy current going through the switch.

Also, most cars only run the fuel pump for 2 seconds when the key is turned on because you don't want the fuel pump running without the car running. If you listen closely at the fuel tank, you should hear the pump run for 2 seconds when you turn the key to "ON"
When the key is turned to "START", the fuel pump should run continuously.
The engine computer tells the fuel pump to shut off if the engine rpms are zero.
So, I would check the switch side of the relay. Power amd ground.
