You have a major engine problem. You need a certified mechanic. I would say (since you didn't say where the noise is located)you have a connecting rod or push rod problem. If you continue to drive it you will destroy the engine.

Hi, I own a suzuki alto, 2003, with the K6A engine. The engine has slowly developed a knocking problem which seems to be increasing. There are no DTCs visible on the scan tool and a manual check of...

I would say that with the grey smoke and all, your piston/s are skipping.
This means that the cylinders are worn unevenly from top to bottom.
The pistons then slightly bounce or skip in the cylinders.
Time for a rebore perhaps?

4200 chev knock but not arod

Could be piston or piston land knock pull plug wires or coil wire plug if diffent coils find out if thr knock changes sounds as you connect fireing plug wire on and off thus killing spark to individual cylinders you will jear tje sound if its on a cylinder. In paryicular to note .once found then decide to examine why also the main bearing end play may allow the crankshaft to movr forward too far if worn out or worn on crank cheek the last think is tapered rod thhrow causes a knock when particulare cylinder fires do the spark test uses ears to determine..all old chevy V8s whithe mechanical fuel pumps with push rods had a knock you could hear dam easy okay take a toilet plunger handle off plunger put one enf om motor while its rumning then put your ear om the other end listen to valve cover thrn by the intake near head move up and down engine then listen on bottom of oil sump pan you can find oit where noise is loudest the remove something to check whats really wrong good luck

Engine knock

Did this happen after changing spark plugs ?
Incorrect spark plugs can cause this.
Maybe the timings are wrong the gasoline is expoding before the piston reaches the upper position.

I need to know what code p0326 means for a 2001 kia sportage. i know it a knock sensor code what do i do with information.

Knock sensor is an indication you are having a mis-fire with your spark plugs if one fires and another misses causes the engine to knock 3 possible issues.

Spark plugs

Older vehicle may need gas treatment

Worst case valve or cylinder seal issue
Try the first issues dont change knock sensor it maybe doing its job

The last solution you shouldnt need to do unless you are getting black smoke from exhaust or engine is knocking realy bad

Knocks at ilde,, changed knock sensor on hooked tourge converter, belts and let run free still knocks at idle

You have carbon build up on the valves and pistons to get rid of this you will have to buy some Top engine cleaner and hook a vacuum hose to the can where it pulls the fluid into the cylinders say a brake vacuum boost . or a line in from the throttle body. After you get it to **** it all the way in shut the engine off for 30 minutes and let it soak. then fire up the engine and run it till it quits smoking, this should get rid of the engine knock. Since the carbon builds up inside the compression chamber it raises the compression ratio to a point that the knock sensor can adjust the timing to keep it from knocking, this is a problem for GM cars but also for all cars that have to burn Alcohol or ethanol and it's the only way to get it out without tearing the engine down. also once you are done you will need to change the motor oil and filter cause the carbon will plug up the filter.

I have a 2002 525i bmw, sometimes when i crank up the car a big pile of smoke comes out, and thens goes away. the car runs great sometimes and then sometimes when i make a turn i can hear the valves rattle...

It doesn't have to run hot to be blown. Sounds like you have oil getting into one of the pistons when you make that turn. After a couple of times, it ruins your plugs and that's why you're getting a mis-fire. It sounds to me like the engine itself is blown. The pistons along with the plugs are firing (burning the oil that gets into the cylinder walls. It's time to look into a rebuild.

It's related, The connecting rod pins may have gotten damaged and needs to be replaced. The knock you are getting sounds like the piston slap due to the connecting pins being damaged and the piston is moving around the cylinder walls and connecting rod. When the spark plugs wire was crossed the wrong spark plugs fired while the piston was still on it's way up the cylinder as to having it fire on the way down. This will cause stress to the valve's, piston, connecting pins, crank shaft, and main bearings. In short all the internal lower moving parts to an engine. Good Luck and have a compression test on all the cylinders and the one that is damaged will be the lowest compression reading.

Exhaust smokes when engine starts

Most common reason for that is worn valve stem seals and or guides or gunk buildup in the cylinder head blocking oil return holes.... Or, broken piston ring or burned piston lands. (use compression test to verify that) Knocking can be from oil detonating in cylinder or bad rod bearing etc.

Your engine is toast. The black smoke indicates more than likely your valve seals are leaking oil into the combustion chamber or the piston rings are shot.

Time for a new vehicle...
