Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. As you have already replaced the switch on the transfer case, clean the vacuum lines and also check under the battery tray that the boot is not ripped which controls the leaver to engage the front axel. If ripped then replace it. This issue can also be caused by poor vacuum not pulling the cable all the way to fully engage or disengage the gear. Noise might be also due to small gear and nylon washer in the front differential going bad. If so replace them.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

    Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Yes please also check the actuator which is located
behind the glove box and to the upper left. Fold down the glove box, remove and
swing it toward the drivers side and remove the two screws with a 7/32 socket. Now
remove the power plug, twist the actuator upwards until free. In the process a
couple of small vacuum lines will also be required to be removed.

    Please do accept the solution
if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

    Thanks

    Rylee

Tractor case 585xl front diff not driving. Front shaft drives but not wheels.

I am thinking that you have a broken/ stripped drive spline on a front axle. If you have reduction gears in the hubs , it may be stripped teeth on a gear. If you jack up one front wheel and turn the drive shaft that wheel should turn. IF so repeat the procedure for the other wheel and if it doesn't turn like the other side then that is the side with the problem

Is there an electric or vacuum switch on a 2001 chevy blazer

There are 2 models here the push button will flash if the system is not engaging or disengaging properly . If front drive shaft is turning. That is with car raised and supported . if front drive axles do not turn then the axle actuator is not engaging axle shaft passenger side. Remove actuator and manually engage shifting collar with a screwdriver still does not turn then inner axle is twisted.

Lock in your 4 wheel drive, and get under the truck, and try to manually turn the front drive-shaft. If the drive-shaft spins freely, then your 4x4 is not locking in correctly, and you may need to replace the lockers.
Good luck!

4x4 problems transfercase stays on

If you have locked hub drive in the front end then that shaft will be turning all the time when moving as the front wheels will be making it turn through the diff,. If you have free wheeling hubs that allow you to disengage the hubs then the shaft will be turned from engagement from the transfere case. In that case check that you are in fact changing out of 4 wheel drive and the actuator is not jammed or rusted in the engaged position

Is the 4 wheel drive shaft supposed to turn freely

the shaft from the transfer case to the front differential should not turn free by hand because it is connected to the differential.

Front drive shaft not fully engaged in 4WD, with truck on stands all 4 wheels do rotate but if i stop front wheels the front drive shaft is not engaged

Hi,
Do you have auto locking hubs on the front wheels, or manual locking hubs?
If you have auto locking hubs chances are they are not engaging properly and will need to be removed and spline sets checked for broken teeth on locking hub and locking shaft.
If you have manual locking hubs then check that they are firm when turning to engage them in the lock position. If they are light when engaging them to the lock position then they my have broken/worn out the locking hub and spline. Also check that the engaging spring inside the hub has enough tension to engage the hubs they may be broken. If the hub are all ok then you have a problem in the transfer box, where the 4WD lever is not meshing the transfer box properly. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.
