Question about 1998 Jaguar XJ8L
it may be the central locking motor on that door, but firstly try freeing it up, they sometimes get stiff and just need some WD40 spray all around the lock,mechanism and if you are able to get to the motor spray that also, you will have to remove the door trim to get to the motor its a fairly simple job. Once you have sprayed everything lock and unlock the door with both the key and the remote repeatedly.
