Question about 1986 Mercedes-Benz 300
Firstly I would check the earth battery lead, thats the one from the battery to the car body, ensure the wires are tight and have a good contact, especially the earth to the car body.
Secondly there is another earth wire to the gearbox ensure this has a good contact and make sure no other wires are contacting it.
Thirdly get the battery tested.
