No, it will not. If your speedo is working some times then you should simply replace the speedo cable. Especially if the needle is "jumpy".

Got a 97 mustang gt with a speedometer problem. everything works except the milege meters. Do have replace the whole speedometer cluster to fix it.

the speedometer odometer can be repaired, so a new unit is not required, contact your local Ford dealer to see who they use for Speedo repair, they don't do it at the shop.

Is the speed sensor that you are using the original one, or is it from the Camaro, or is it new for an 89 K1500?

The worm gear inside of the transmission on the output shaft that drives the speed sensor gear is not damaged?

No matter what speed sensor is installed the speedometer still reads the same?

The speedo in my 95 mustang Gt Is 10 miles an hour fast

A vehicle speed sensor that is starting to fail could cause this, or less than likely bad wiring or connections, or yes, a bad cluster could do this... But how exactly did she notice the speedometer was 10MPH fast?? There are no real accurate speedometers in vehicles (Don't get me wrong they shouldn't be off by 10MPH) but there is a 5 or so percent difference high or low in many vehicles even with stock powertrains. I've plugged in with a diagnostic scanner on many vehicles and the dash speedo shows 60MPH, but the electronic speed readout on the scanner reads as low as 55MPH or as high as 65MPH

Instrument cluster removal 1965 mustang

  1. Disconnect the battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the speedometer cable from the speedometer head.
  3. Remove the six screws retaining the instrument cluster assembly to the instrument panel and tilt the cluster forward.
  4. Disconnect the wiring and the bulb sockets and remove the cluster assembly. NOTE: All individual instruments may be removed and serviced at this time. To install:
  5. Position the cluster and connect the wiring and bulb sockets.
  6. Install the instrument cluster assembly to the instrument panel with the six retaining screws.
  7. Connect the speedometer cable and the battery cable.
  8. Check the operation of all gauges, lights, and signals.

Speedo dont work on audi 200 89

It's one of three things. The sensor in the transmission is bad. The wiring from the sensor to the speedometer is bad. Or the speedometer itself is bad.

Speedometer does not work properly

I have not heard of this before but I do know there is such a wide spread problem with the cluster (speedo) GM has extended warranty on several years and I expect they will add more years as time goes by.

Many of the problems I encounter have been speedo's showing a faster speed than actual, 100mph plus.

Good Luck

91 Corolla - Transmission fluid drip...inside!

The gear that is on the side of the transmission has a small seal, where the speedo cable goes into the speedometer take-off unit. When the seal goes bad, the cable drags trans fluid up the inner core. I have changed this device several times for the same symptom. Replace the speedo unit on the side of the transmission.

I have a 1991 Ford Mustang GT speedo problem

check the cable for the speedometer at the interconect. the cable is loose somewhere along the length of the cable. one back of he meter, 2, interconnect. 3, transmission case.
make sure the inner cable is square not rounded. if os, you need a new cable.

Speedometer is jumping all-over

You better check the connector to the speedo and cluster, either you bent a pin or damaged the printed circuit, or the connector is not locked properly.
