Question about 2003 Volkswagen GTI
Two areas to check. The sunroof has several drains that can clog. Open the sunroof and look in the four corners. You will see small holes. Try flushing water down each one with like a cooking baster or spray bottle. If that won't clear a clog use a long wire but with a rounded end. You could cut rubber parts if the end was sharp. The second area is in the door panel area. Each door should have drains in the bottom. If they are clogged it will overflow into the interior. Also if that door has been serviced and the moisture barrier was not reinstalled correctly you will get some water leaking inside.

This is an old post, but I just stripped my car apart and found the water source.
I took apart most of the interior and found an easier solution when I pulled the front quarter panel. I found the part that's leaking water, I'll post some pictures later.

IF ABOVE DOES NOT WORK, LIFT THE CARPET AND DIRECTLY BEHIND FRONT PASSENGER SEAT - ON THE ACTUAL FLOOR - YOU WILL FIND A SMALL SUMP. IF IT IS NOT FITTED CORRECT, WATER CAN COME IN FROM UNDERNEATH ESPECIALLY IN WET CONDITIONS.
