2003 dodge intrepid is overheating it is losing coolant but can't seem to find where it is leaking. I have checked the coolant tank no cracks, the radiator shows no signs of cracks and when it has coolant the heater works but as sooon as its gone the air gets cold and when I come to stops or slow down the needle starts going up

You may have a blown head gasket. check engine oil to see if it is milky looking.

If you lose sufficient radiator coolant any water cooled engine will overheat as will yours. You do not need to lose very much coolant for an overheating condition to occur.

If you allow the engine to run in an overheated condition you WILL cause very expensive engine damage many times what it will cost you to have a new water pump and new WP gasket fitted.

How do I find a coolant leak in my 2001 Dodge Intrepid 3.2L? It does not appear to be the hoses, but I notice the passenger side of the radiator is wet. Noticed puddle of coolant under passenger side of...

HI, The easiest way to find a cooling system leak to preform a pressure test. This test requires the use of some special equipment so I will just give you some common areas of these engines that leak. 1. check the upper radiator hose at the radiator. the plastic tank cracks sometimes. 2. check around the thermostat housing. 3. The worse for last there is a coolant passage tube that runs under the intake manifold almost impossible to see without taking things apart. but when it leaks the coolant seems to show up n the floor on the passenger side back by the firewall. I hope these help and you can locate the problem. Be careful when looking for these problems when the engine is hot you can get burnt. Good luck

How often should I bleed air from the cooling system?

check your oil and make sure you dont ahve a blown head gasket and that your thermostat is good (throw it in boiling water and see if it opens), and if you are losing water/coolant with no drips or puddles than it may be leaking in a cylinder which means bad head gasket as well

Sounds like an overheating problem.  My '96 intrepid does the same thing.  When it reaches a certain temperature it kills the engine - not quite total overheating. For me, it turned out to be something in the engine block (minor cracked head or something).  However, you can test and replace the: water pump, coolant sensor, temperature sensor, and the coolant system to make sure there are no blockages or leaks and bleed the system.
