It's time consuming. you have to drop the whole dashboard and steering colum in order to get to the heater core. In a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the hardest, i say it's an 8.

Air conditioner blows heated air

Sounds like ??
If the compressor is running and the system is full of freon, you may have a blend door problem under the dash. The blend door directs air flow thru the heater core and evaporator core depending on the temp setting on the dash.

DASH BOADR IS BLOWING ANTI FREEZE

That does not sound good. It is likely that you have a damaged hater core. This is a difficult replacement, best left to a good shop to do, it is VERY easy to damage the new core or the fragile heater box components.

1998 mercury grand marquis heater doesnt work only cold air comes out the air cond works fine the enginecoolant is new, the engine doesnt overheat.

Either your heater control valve is not properly operating or your heater core is clogged. Locate the heater control valve under the hood, should be close to firewall on heater hose, have someone adjust temperature from hot to cold and see if you can see the heater control valve operating if so replace the heater core, if its not doing anything replace it(heater control valve).

could be heater control or plugged heater core.. heater core could be cleaned out by unhooking heater hoses and running water through or a radiator flush.. if its your valve youll need to replace..

Where is the heater core located in a 1996 Grand Marquis with a 4.5 liter engine? Is it difficult to change or labor intensive?

Above the passenger's feet inside the dashboard. they are a pain in the *** to replace. have it done at a shop where they specialize in car heating and A/C systems. if you pull a dozen dashboards out every month you get good at it and know any short cuts.

Need to replace heater corein a 1992 grand marquis

This can be a very difficult and time consuming repair. Basically you just have to remove enough of the dash to allow access to the heater core. Go slow and do not break any parts. Take digital photos so you will be able to reassemble everything. Once you get to it, you simply disconnect the hoses under the hood and remove and replace the core, and reconnect the hoses. You then start the engine and add the necessary coolant and bleed all air from the system with the heater set to hot. This is not an easy repair and requires knowledge of how the dash comes apart. If you are not comfortable trying this then you may want to seek out a professional who has done this before on an older Mercury.

Heater core

It is a big job.  I had to move my dash aft several inches to access the heater core.  Lots of disassembly.  Chiltons, all data, or any manual are a big help.
