When AC is on it blows out the vents until I put my foot on the gas. While Im pressing the gas it comes out the defrost vents then take foot off and it comes out regular vents! Any ideas??

When the gas petal is pushed down the engine needs a amount of vacum to run.If there is not enough vacum it will pull vacum off heater/ac box inside which controls where the ai flow is controled.Check intake for vaccum leaks, hoses, connections.look for vaccum lost.

Where is the thermostat located?

The lower rad hose goes up under the left side of the engine to a housing with 3 bolts, the thermostat is in that housing. When you remove it, have a big tray ready, all the coolant will drain when you release it.

Have a vacume leak on top of engine looks like a end of vauel stem it had plug like thing on but it come off i dont know if it needs to be pluged or if it has a vacume hose but there is no hose my car runs...

Start by looking at each and every hose near and around the plug. You may find that one was blown off and is near the back of the engine or down at the bottom of the engine. Check everything and I am sure you will find the one that is not hooked.

2002 Land Rover ~ Freelander - No heat coming from the heater

Look for two water lines about 1 in in diameter running back toward the condensor unit in the firewall. On one of those lines will be a control. It is sometimes vacum controlled. When they are vacum conrolled they have a tendency to get stuck or you may have lost vacum to the unit. You can use a vacum tester and short piece of hose to test this to see if you have lost vacum or if it is stuck closed. Connect the test hose to the control on teh hose and apply vacum to the unit. If the valve opens you will get heat in the vehicle. If it does not open then it is stuck in the closed position and will need to be replaced in most cases.

Fuel pressure regulator had no vacuum line connected

another engineers wet dream. think of it this way . what is normally in the intake when the engine is running.. answer vacume, hence the regulator gets its vacume without a hose connected to it as its already in a full time vacume chamber.no hose required . ps be carefull to seat the regulator and o rings securely into the housing befor you reattach the secureing metal clip.
good luck chris

Air vents

I was having a similar problem with the vents not redirecting air when selected. I went onto the auto zone wed site and found very helpful schmeatic diagrams for electrical and vacume systems. That lead me to investigate a possible vacume leak. There was a vacume hose broken tucked away by the battery. I repaired the hose with thick wall heat tape and now the vents move normally. The vacume starts on the P/S top of engine runs by the battery into the fore wall. Once in the P/S foot well you will see a purple hose that you can quickly check the vacume pressure. It should be a noticable vacume. If not work your way back to the engine. If you do have a good vacume there then I would suggest going to a auto wreckers and picking up a new heater control module for around $90.00 in stead of the $240.00 fro the dealer. All you need is a phillips screw driver to replace it.
