2.2 Ltr or 4.3 V6 ?
Usually you will not have coolant flow back into the res. unless engine is overheating.
The res. is just that, a res. for coolant incase your system is leaking.
I have seen these plastic tanks crack and leak also.
I would fill it half way with the proper coolant mix and watch the system.
Please let me know.

'94 Gmc Sonoma 4.3L Starts loosing Power and making weird Rattle Noise when reaching operating temperature. Also water tank looks like there is a bit oil in it. Could it be the cylinder head gasket?

Oil in the coolant is usually an intake manifold gasket problem on these engines. If a head gasket failure the engine will normally overheat and give erratic temp guage readings. Make sure the oil level is full. Is the rattle noise coming from the engine? Some times the exhaust (converter) will fail and the catylist will seperate causing a rattle noise from the exhaust and plug it up giving a no power situation

Coolant Reservior Hose

Nothing.
The second hose is the actual overflow hose where coolant escapes should the tank become full.

My 94 gmc sonoma 2.2l is dosing too much gas and paying $20 a day to get back and forth from work

Is the check engine light on ?
If not, it could be a faulty thermostat that is not letting the engine warm up.

Coolant leaking from 1994 Sonoma. Is not near the water pump or radiator, but more towards the back of the block. What might it be?

It could be a heater hose, an intake manifold gasket, or a rusted through freeze plug. You must "look" to see where the leak is originating from.

How do I drain the coolant in a 1998 GMC Sonoma?

Hello,

Open the bonnet of your 1998 GMC Sonoma, look under the radiator, you will see a hose/pipe coming out of the radiator going into the engine of the 1998 GMC Sonoma. Remove the hose and the coolant will drain.

You will see a screw holding the hose to the engine, get a screw driver to loosen the screw so that the hose can be easily removed.

After draining, pour more water into the radiator to flush out the coolant entirely from the radiator.

I hope this helps.

Good luck.
