I'd like to replace the timing belt

I don't really have a problem other than 100k preventative maintenance. I need a diagram and instructions telling me how to replace the timing belt.

What are the signs that your timing belt on a 2008 Kia sportage are bad

If you've ever heard a terrible loud screech, then your timing belt has skipped and is going bad, this would make your car run poorly too. Otherwise its hard to tell. Its best to get it replaced at the manufacturers suggested maintenance interval (somewhere around 60k - 100k miles).

I need a timing belt diagram for a 2003 CTSCADILLAC 3.2

I'm not sure which timing belt "diagram" you are requesting. There are several in the service manual. (You are going to need much more than a simple routing diagram showing where the timing marks are located.) Replacing the timing belt on this engine is quite complicated and requires the use of special tools to lock both the camshafts and the crankshaft into position while positioning the timing belt.

Failure to do this according to the specific instructions provided in the sevice manual or attempting to do this job without the proper tools and equipment can result in severe engine damage.

If you really want to try and attempt this job at home, I can provide a FULL set of instructions and all of the diagrams available.

Just click on my profile picture below and go to my FixYa profile page. Click the tab that says "Pro Services". When the page opens up, click any of the services listed. (It doesn;t really matter which one - they will ALL connect you with me) Sign up for Email support. Be sure to include the Year, Make, Model, Engine Size, and a brief description of what we are trying to fix in your message (just so I don't mix you up with someone else).

I just bought a 2010 mercury mariner premier 4 cylinder with 75,000 miles. When should the timing belt be replaced? Any other maintenance I should plan on?

The owners' manual will designate when to inspect it.Replace it before 100K to be safe, and assume it's never been replaced unless you have its history. don-ohio

Timing chain on 2003 Suzuki XLT when do you change it? I am at 137,00 miles right now.

Most manufactures recommend changing a timing belt at 100k but I've seen them go several hundred thousand miles and no problem. I've also seen them break under 100k. The best maintenance is preventative maintenance or fixing things before they become a problem. I would recommend replacing it if you have the means to do so as you will also be replacing the water pump which is driven off the timing belt (do them together)..

Does a chevy 5.3 V-8 have a timing belt or chain? My truck just turned 100k and I'm wondering if it needs maintenance or replacing.

Chain. It doesn't need replaced unless it has a problem. Chains don't have a service replacement interval.

2002 MDX, dealer is recommending a new t belt. Is this really needed.

if the timing belt breaks while driving serious damage can happen resulting in bent valves and busted pistons. most makers reccomend replacements at 70K to 100K. your owners manual should tell you. be sure that you have them replace any othe items that are exposed and readily accessable. ie water pump and so on, to prevent further work later at more expence

Belt or Chain

Yes those vehicles have timing belts instead of chains. I have yet to see a timing belt that doesnt need to be changed at some point. Maybe the tech meant you didnt need to change them now. Each manufacturer has their own mileage interval, but generally speaking, anywhere between 60,000 and 90,000 miles they are due to be replaced.
